Where to park at Lake Creek?

I heard a lot of people getting tickets for parking on the road at lake creek just above timber lakes. When the parking lot is full where is everyone park? I know the parking lot is small and you need to be there early in the morning. I just don't want to come back to a ticket.

There are a number of problems with the Lake Creek parking lot.

We are in and out of that lot nearly every day. The lot is on PRIVATE PROPERTY. So it's not going to get any bigger. Additionally, we need to treat that lot and area with respect. There are a couple of homeowners adjacent to that lot that are pretty ticked when selfish sledders park in front of their drive ways or block their access. Drop trash and leave it there to show up in the spring when the snow melts. Honestly those signs have come up from those in our sledding community not respecting the area and those who live there.

Also, with the lot being on private property, we could lose that lot at anytime if we don't keep the property owners happy. We are consistently picking up trash when we are there so that it doesn't get out of hand and to do our part.

There are also a ton of people who really do not consider others when they park their rigs. Sometimes they make it near impossible for others to get out. Take up more space than needed. Park a truck without a trailer in the center where trucks with trailers would be better suited, etc. I think simply thinking about how you parking would affect others trying to get into and out of the lot would make a world of difference.

My personal opinion is that if I were going riding on a Saturday or Holiday (this whole week) I would simply either arrive before 8 am or if that is not possible choose a different trail head to ride from that has a bigger lot. That way I wouldn't risk getting my rig damaged from somebody trying to get into or out of that tight lot, or risk getting a ticket.

Lastly guys, I am not posting this to "call out" anybody. We are all on the same team here. I want to see that lot stay open to the public and have that great access. If WE all don't work together to keep the private property owners in the area happy then we won't have a lot to ride out of at all.

Pick up trash, respect others in the lot. Respect the posted signage. Don't park on the road or block driveways. :face-icon-small-coo

Oh, and have fun and be safe!

Would be nice if people parked so you could still turn around!!!

And that trail was the worst I've ever seen it last Saturday!

Mtnpull, I couldn't agree with you more that we need to take better care of that trail head and yes, I'd be upset too if a redneck snowmobiler parked a 30ft trailer in front of my private gated driveway and kicked their Redbull cans out.

But, it sure seems more like another case of a few rich estate owners complaining because they want the whole canyon for themselves and the DNR is more than happy to write another ticket. (That's all those guys do anyway)

It's not fun driving all the way up that canyon only to find the lot is full and now need to go find another place to ride because 8-10 other trucks beat me there.

It sounds like you've been communicating with these homeowners and maybe the Forest service with your rental business. Do you have any more thoughts on how to get better involved with these guys? I'd rather we all work to find a better parking solution than have it boil over and lose access altogether.

Is it illegal to park on the road anywhere or only 50 feet in front of driveways, road signs etc? Thanks

It may be the case of a few rich estate owners complaining. But we need to remember, that it is those few, rich estate owners providing the land and the agreement with the state to provide that lot. In the end, if we treat them (and their property) with respect we should be able to keep use of that lot. Beyond that I don't have any real answers.
