where to go out west

Hi everyone,

I have never been riding out west and I would like to go out there next winter and do some back country. I was wondering if you had any recommendations on places to go, what time of the year, and good accommodations. I would like to stay at a place that offers everything such as sled rental, food, booze, guide service ect. Thanks Greg :beer;

hard to beat west yellowstone. they must have 12 rental places. 12 restraunts 20+ motels. you can ride sleds in town except for the 2 main roads. they can get awsome snow too.

First stop try Albany in the snowies. We stay at Albany lodge and they offer all the accomodations you are looking for. It is very inexpensive compared to other places in the area. The reason I take my group back each year is the friendly service, and alot of fun.

'nd place check out Togwotee Mt. Lodge on the CDST. Always great terrain and again you will find all the accomodations you are looking for. I take the group out to Togwotee for the second trip of the year.

Snowies have the easiest to follow trails, and terrain to play on. You really wouldn't need a guide unless you are looking for some real challenging riding.

Togwotee you would need a guide if you haven't been there several times before. Good luck on picking a spot, you will be hooked when you see the mts. and all the snow.

The Big Horns are good, Bear Lodge has good riding right from the door, rentals, food and drinks. Also CDST is fun, The Lineshack out of Dubois, WY has all the same as Bear Lodge.

I would stay in Utah or Montana. Idaho has no snow and sucks. No alcohol,food or places to stay. Very desolate place.

First choice for a first timer.
Togwotee. Lots of area, large open areas to play in and easy access. Get a guide and you'll have a blast.

Second choice if your willing to travel farther or want to fly in and rent, west yellowstone. Ride right thru town and to the trail heads.

Those 2 areas were voted number one and two in the best places to go out west survey every year since they started taking the survey.

lol you beat me to it! Idaho is terrible, its a dry state, no one eats out so no resturants and we struggle to find enough snow to ride on;)
