Where can you buy an out-of-state snowmobile tag tomorrow?

Ok, so I pretty much screwed myself and didn't order my tags several weeks ago ...

Is there anywhere in Craig, Maybell, Steamboat, Kremmling, ANYWHERE that I will be able to just go to and get an out-of-state snowmobile tag tomorrow morning? I've called Alpine Motorsports in Kremmling, City Market in Craig, and they both told me they did not sell out-of-state snowmobile tags.....

I have a pretty good feeling USFS will be up at Rabbit Ears tomorrow checking tags.....

Planet Powersports in Steamboat should have them, yes--no? I would try there first. You riding Sat?. if so we should get together, Mule is riding Sat as well.

This makes it sound like if it is registered out of state, you are good.

#403 – NONRESIDENT ANNUAL SNOWMOBILE REGISTRATION FEE
a. The nonresident annual snowmobile registration for a person from a state or
country where registration is not required shall be $10.00

BUT

Out-of-state Snowmobiles
Out-of-state residents who bring snowmobiles into Colorado must purchase a Colorado Non-Resident Snowmobile permit which is valid from the date of purchase through the following September 30. These permits can be purchased via mail in request or ordered online at the Colorado State Parks E-Store. Once purchased, this sticker should be placed on the machine’s outside face of the right front part of the cowling. Since this is only a use permit, no renewal notice will be sent to non-resident permit holders; you must purchase a new permit each year you come to Colorado with your Snowmobile.

So if I just print the receipt out for the tags I ordered online and keep that with me will that work? I don't know, I mean if a USFS guy or whoever sees I don't have a tag displayed I can at least show them a current reciept ...

What is the penalty, they make you register your vehicle?

That's how it is in Utah anyways ... if they catch you riding without a tag, they fine you for the price of a tag then you just have to go buy a tag and take that receipt to the county clerk to have the fine revoked ..... is that how CO works?

I renewed online and printed a temporary permit. I'd guess that the out of state would be the same, but you can see that the 2 documents say different things.

I guess I don't see what the problem would be having a valid current receipt, because CO doesn't require you to give VIN #'s for OOS snowmobile tags ....

Maybe too late, but... I was stopped on my moto. once without my OHV sticker. I had my resident receipt with me and that worked. I would think you would be ok with an out of state one. Probably would depend on their mood that day.

Yes colorado requires a vin # it is part of the sticker you get a number on your sticker and that number is the same every year. They can scan your vin bar code and tell if it is registered and or registered to you.

My out of state permit did not require a VIN, registration or plate # to get mailed to me. Order one online and hang on to the receipt, I'm sure you'd be fine.

When I was up riding about 3weeks ago steamboat powersports didn't have a out of state tag, so I went to the DNR or whatever you guys call them douche bags and they also didn't have one so I had to then go to the Chamber in Steamboat where I bought one! WOW!!! and it was $30.25 and its good for the whole year.
