I'm selling a sled to a buddy in Canada and I'm told that the sled MUST have the "statement of compliance label" on it to export/import it [even though it has the vin etched into the tunnel ]

This is the Decal (sticker) that is on the Right side of the tunnel at the front with the VIN # printed on it....

The sled is a 2005 Ski Doo Summit

The sticker was removed for polishing

Has anyone had this problem and what did you do about it?

Thanks in advance for any help.

If you go on the RIV.ca website, it will have the bombadier contact phone #'s. Give them a call and they will fax you everything you need within a week or so. You will also need a recall clearance letter. The RIV.CA website will tell you everything you need. Piece of cake.

The sled I want to sell to my buddy in the Still no luck with this sticker...
Anyone with a solution to this or someone that has been in this predicament!

Seems to be a stupid rule.

I prefer to ignore the rules I don't agree with.

There's gotta be a way around it.

just a thought....

look at an online microfiche an go to the stickers and decals for your year make and model. i know on the poo sites they have all the decals for your certain sled i would think it owuld be the same for doo.

That would be great, but not available.

These lables are custom printed for each individual sled with a bar scan and VIN # of that particular chassis printed on it.

How far from the border are you? Just take it across the border yourself and tell them your going sledding in Whistler or Revy. As long as you have the paper work to prove it's your sled.

I just sold a sled to a Canadian a couple of months ago with the sticker missing. All you have to do is call BRP customer service and tell them that you need a waiver and then have the new owner call them and they will provide him with the proper border paperwork. They will provide you all you need, my deal went off without a hitch. If I remember right you need 48 hours prior to border crossing.

I bought a sled in Michigan without compliance stickers on it. I had no issues crossing the border (at Sault St. Marie). I went to Canadian Tire yesterday to have the final vehicle check before Ontario will issue the ownership. The inspector noticed the missing stickers - so I provided him with a letter from Yamaha Canada saying the vehicle was produced to all American standards at the time of manufacture. This was good enough for him and he signed of the the vehicle had the stickers. I was a little worried too - but everything turned out OK. Hope this helps.
