when to rebuild????????

here i am with too much time to think, laid off and no snow to ride in.
my 07 800r has 2500 miles on it , i just got the clutching figured ot at the beginning of last year, i LOVE this sled .it has great low end grunt ,pulls like crazy and handles like a dream in the trees and on the hill. so heres my question how many miles can i expect from her before the problems from the motor arise such as rings, pistons etc.. there are good deals out there on the new xps so i might be trying to convice myself to get a new one. but i still have feeling for my rev so i need some input. thanks:)

I was told by a dealer once to change pistons at 2500 miles. I have seen piston cracks at that milage. I changed to using a little VP fuel for detonation and lubrication and have not seen any cracks since.

Like already mentioned I to have seen cracks in my piston skirts at about 2000 miles, so that's when I change them and allows have on all the 800 rotax engines I haved owned. Sometimes compression drops at about 1000 miles with bad rings. (replacing them on my 600 right now)

It does depend on your riding stlye. If you take it easy down the trails or around the farm you could get 5000 miles on a set of pistons and rings. If you are like me and do lots of mountain riding where your wide open for long periods of time the high temps the pistons see for an extended period of time don't do them any favors...

Just my two cents.
