When is it time to get a chest protector?

This is a compilation of 2 seasons worth of putting a camera in front pocket of klim coat. I have tried putting them in other pockets but battery life is shorter. I guess this is a way to determine how many times a guy actually does take a shot to the chest. So looking for new camera and a chest protector for next season. Any suggestions?

+1. Bought mine before I even had a sled; never rode without tekvest.

Day after I bought my sled was the first and last time I rode without knee protection.

do you keep getting an E-13 or similar error message on power-up? Canon point and shoot cameras are famous for the lens motors piling up inside....not due to shock but faulty design. buddy went thru a couple of them before the sales guy admitted there was a problem....

I got an idea...maybe put the camera in another pocket!

chest protection+knee/shin protection= less damage to body!

I have a Klim (actually TekVest). Works well and it's better than getting your chest and ribs caved in.

BTW, my camera sits in my handlebar bag. Easier to get to than digging around coat pockets

Oh ya, the time to get a chest protector is as soon as you can. So you'll be set for next season...:)

nope. 3 busted lcd's and one that the lens comes out and wont go back in. I am thinking bout trying to take the lcd out of it and move it over to one of the others. Prolly be all kinds a stuff flying apart when it comes apart:eek:

I keep mine in the camera pouch on my Dakine backpack. I carry 4 sets of extra rechargable batters in the pack. They can be used for my beacon, GPS or the camera.

man-i'm going to--

as soon as i can find one w/ adaquate protection in the shoulder/ collarbone/chest area--
was at the races last weekend and saw lots of diff. ones--wasnt impressed with those areas on klim vest--saw one with plastc shell and lots of foam inside it, but wasnt quick enough to see the brand

I think there is a heated handle bar bag out there somewhere. I bought a semi hard slim camera case for my camera and packed it full of shipping styrofoam. That was after I broke my LED twice. Pretty much exact same camera as you.

I never wore a Tekvest until this year and I can't believe I never got one sooner. I can't tell you how many times it saved me this winter. I'm sure without it, I would have cut my season VERY short due to injuries.

As for your camera, I have a canon camera but keep it in a small padded pouch and have never had a problem breaking it. I usually keep it in my seat but sometimes have it in my pocket. I do, however, keep 3 spare batteries with me.

Ski-Doo Makes one that has a 3 watt heater in it. Used it a lot last season over some very rough conditions and it worked perfect. I won't carry my camera on me just because of this very reason.

I would also say around 2 with nmmiles that sounded like a good time to do it. Or NOW would be a GREAT time also.
