When do people bring out the short tracks?

I would plan it no earlier than late February. Our flatlander group used to bring short tracks with 1" to 1.25" tracks and we had a lot of fun. If it dumps you really struggle but that is fun too, just go and enjoy.

as long as you don't mind getting stuck, you can take them the shorty out on a DEEEEP day; you will still burn up a tank of gas, you just don't get as far from the pickup!! I had to go cheap for the past few years, and have remembered how much FUN it was to have a bunch of short track old school Phazers out for a ride! as long as there are a few other guys with similar sleds/tracks, have a ball; you just don't have to search as long for the "big" hills:face-icon-small-hap

Thank you, more info i was wanting to hear. I appreciate the responses. That was the snow i was trying to describe the "hero" snow.

You would drive all the way from SK to ride hero snow? That's like 10 plus hours one way! Why would you waste your time?

no one who jumps uses short tracks unless thats all they have . look at just about every sled movie made in the past few years. all the burly back country stuff is done on 154s normally . wiping out in powder sucks less

smells like depends

There is something really sweet about taking a 121 or even a 144 in todays age out and smoking folks on new longer stuff. Dont be shy just keep up your momentum!! Some groups this just does not apply, for instance dont try to go with your serius mtn. crews on deep days!!!

Hell you can go anywhere with a 121 in januarary if it don't snow for a few weeks, but late spring like late April may is when I see them.
