What's with all the WE Air's for sale

They are the rebuildable ones.

Curt said that once they get opened up they aren't reliably holding a seal. I think I'll bite the bullet and get the WE's. As long as I'm ordering I thought I'd see if anyone else wants in.

Where are you gettin em from? How much? I may be interested. Where in SD are you from? I'm in Gillette, WY. Sonny

Have to agree with the aluminum Ryde's being a great shock.

I thought about replacing my 09 dragon shocks but then after just R&R'ing two different float 2's for issues both having issues brand new, I thought I'd try my leaky prone, non cold weather shocks first.

I have personally used and serviced the Ryde FX Aluminum Rebuildable snow check shocks from the 2005 900's and 2006 RMK snowchecks.... ZERO issues and great performance... no revalve necessary...just a bit less preload on the ski shock spring adjusters to get the ride height correct.

I really like the comperession adj rear track shock...

I've bought complete sets (skis and rear skid) for $250 - $450....

Very high quality.

Are you Sure that Curt is talking about the Ryde FX shocks from the Snowcheck 900's??

Well, I told him what shocks I had and what sled I had, so I assume he was talking about what I was asking about.;)

So, if I send these to you, you can make them so they don't sag whenever weight is put on one side or the other???

I service my own shocks most of the time... but I dont do it as a service.

Tri City Polaris, Deycore, Carver, Carls etc can do it for you...

So, if I send these to you, you can make them so they don't sag whenever weight is put on one side or the other???

I'd like to help you out here and point you in the right direction... what shocks are you talking about.. the Ryde FX's or the WE Air shocks??

I'm kind of "fuzzy" on what shocks you have (from what make/model/yr), what sled you want to put them into and what suspension (front and rear) you have... if it is a stock front suspension or rear or both... what year, model is is it from and in. Also are you running a swaybar.

...and what you want to do with the sled....

It's an 05 900 RMK, 166". Stock Ryde FX shocks all around, rebuildable version, rear has the adjustable compression thing.

The thing will not hold up when cornering, trying to pull it on it's side or sidehilling, it just sags on the side your pulling on. 225lb front track spring. No sway bar. 2010 spindles, just installed and haven't ridden with them on. Stock rear skid.

I want it to remain somewhat solid when I need to lean on one side or the other. It does the same thing my other sled did when my Fox shock went to crap and all I really had was the spring, but this is doing it on both sides. Sled has less than 1,000 miles on it.

Shocks

This is pic. of what i'm running this year WE with FabCraft cambers/revalved
giving me a 50lb range of adjustability. Still waiting to try out as we have no snow yet.:mad:

Without the swaybar, you will need differnent springs... I went with the Z Broz triple rate springs... Solved the ride problems and made a night and day difference.

You may want to send them into TCP and have the compression valving firmed up just slightly as well as having them serviced.

Heres a pic of the spring setup.

I would also go with the 375 lb 47 degree torsion springs in the rear plus getting them serviced... pull the skid, and check out all pivots for slop and tight bolts.

This will give you a night and day difference... with some planning...you can do all of this in a week (mon-friday) if you have them ready to ship out Monday, have the service scheduled, get the springs in your hands first.... pay for some 2 or 3 day service...

You will be back on the snow with much better performance.:D

For those with the older Edge, grab us a set of takeoff WE's for the front and it's a huge improvement. I pair $80 for a brand new pair for the front that came from a 700 Dragon. Make sure the pressure is where it should be and you'll get a lot better ride for not much money......

Do you know if the springs they have on the website are the Triple rate springs? All it says is the ID of the springs and they weren't much help on the phone.

Torsion springs have been on the list for a while, just waiting to see if any more surprises popped up when I pulled the skid before I clicked "order".

The motor is out, done, but waiting for the slow azz mail to get the mounts here from Canada, so I've probably got another week or 2 to get everything else done.

I've got WE air's w/fabcraft chambers, not much improvement there. they are fine for boondocking out of BrooksLake, we never get more than a few miles from the lodge and dont ride trails. They are way to rough for Snowking! I'm saving my money for some EXIT's w/tripl rate springs.

After Monday I'll have a fresh builts set of WEs up for sale... once the dealer rebuilds them under warranty. Blew them sitting in my friggin' trailer yesterday.

OK sled guy.... I'll bite... How does a shock "blow" in a trailer just sitting there??

on a side note... did you ever get the greasable IQ jackshaft bearing figured out??

No, I didn't get the greasable bearing figured out.

Here's my story with the shocks. I rode the Dragon for the first time on the update on Wed. Yesterday I needed to do a little work on the seat cover so I had the seat off. I put it back on and then climbed on the sled and jumped up and down on the running boards and seat a couple of times.

Then I hear this hissing sound. I look around and the front WEs are spewing a lovely pink foam and making a nice hissings sound. 5 min later the front end is nearly sitting on the deck of my trailer.

I looked them over, I thought maybe ice or something was stuck to the shaft and tore a seal (which would be a shizzy design if it could happen), but the shafts look fine.

Guess I'm lucky it didn't happen on the ride Wed.

Got 2 months left on my full warranty, should be covered I would think.

Unless you own a Cat. My buddy has an '09 M8 SP with only 330 miles on it and a year left on the warranty. Rear Float collapsed on the first ride of the year and he was told by AC that the shocks are a maintenance part and are not covered. The guy's 67 years old and not very hard on his sled...that's customer service for ya:(
