What's with all the WE Air's for sale

I see there are a lot of WE Air shocks for sale and going cheap compared to other brands of air shocks. What gives?

They are crap.

And they are plentiful because Polaris put them on all the Dragons.

Dragon owners have learned that by putting good shocks on they can dramatically improve the handling of the Dragon.

^^^Pretty much what he said. I think WE's work well for the powder, and they are light weight. But the sled dives too much because of them and they won't soak up much in big hits.

The WE Air shocks are good for most of the typical mountain riders out there ...

They are not good "bump" shocks!!

They are a good, basic and very lightweight shock...

That being said...they dont work well in extreme cold (below 10 degrees F) and the shafts are not super durable on the shafts... They perform decent, but need to be recharged at the beginning of every season and serviced (oil and seal) at 1000 miles.

Thats my 2 cents.

There are some much more sophisticated shocks out there for sure... Including the Walker Evans needle shocks like on the assaults... but they are also much more pricey.

The best bang for the buck is a set of the snowcheck shocks, used, off a 2005 900 or 2006 600/700/900.

Ryde FX rebuildable and the the Rear Track Shock has a compression adjustable remote reservoir.

The WE Needle shocks with comp adj remote reservoir also cost $650 but are a VERY sophisticate shock that is setup just for this chassis!!

I've got the Ryde FX on mine, the front still dives in the corners with the springs set at full tight. I suppose I could send them to someone and have them charged or revalved?

I just put a ride in on my new timbersled setup. SAWEET! I really notice a difference! Can't wait to hit it again.

If you put these on a 07 or newer IQ, the valving needs to be redone, they more than likely need to be rebuilt.. ect... so I would guess by the time you buy them, ship them, then ship them to be rebuilt, rebuild them... you are going to be in almost the same amount of money as buying new WE needles...

I am putting on Zbroz from FTX... I want Curts shock set up and customer service. The wife is getting WE needles, her set up doesnt need to be specific. If I wasnt looking for a specialized shock set up, I would go with the WE needles too. I think they are a good bang for the buck.

As for the WE airs... Curt @ FTX, set mine up and I really thought they were ok. Then I was plagued with a leaker... come to find out the shaft was scratched.

What would be the downfall of putting Fusion A-arms on and running some shocks I have here that are 18"? I assume it would be a little harder to side hill or pull over, the shocks on it now make it nearly impossible to do that anyway.

Jeff... before you sell your shocks down the river.. call Curt @ FTX. He is a magician with shocks. Talking with him on shocks is like talking to IndyDan on motors...

The shocks you have on now are really not much different than a Fox Zero Pro.. I think a little work, and you would be suprised

Would anyone be interested in a new set of WE Needle shocks at a price of $600???

Which Ryde FX shocks do you have...

The Black steel shocks

OR

The Aluminum rebuildable ones.

The black ones are not rebuildable/revalveable...
