What's the verdict on the Klim F4 Helmet?

I've been trying to make that for 3 years! Always too busy. :( What weekend is it this year? I've got DCTC track days scheduled for the supermoto the 4th and 31st. My b-day is the 10th :beer; so thats out. I work at Bob's every Sat except the 17th and 31st. And I'm out of town on the 17th. Love to make it down some other time though.

Doesn't KBC make this helmet? I like where Klim is going with this design but they are way overpriced. They are like the Fox of the snow industry. People buy it because of the name. If they are not careful, there problems with boots and helmets will sour people of the brand.

What problems would those be? I guarantee that ANY boot out there will wear out in 1 year if your constantly kicking your running boards with it to remove snow. Its not a good idea for any boot. I have probably 2000 miles on my Radiums, and they are still in great condition... Its because i dont kick snow off the boards (thanks to FBombs better boards i never had to). If they just wore out or are coming apart at the seams, send them back, thats a warranty issue and Klim will take care of it. In fact 2 weeks ago i was standing in a creek with water running over my boots trying to get some shots of a jump... didnt even get wet at all... oh and also Klim stepped up their game on the boots again next year :D finally no more laces...

As for the helmets, People can make fun of the way the helmets look all day long (WHIP IT!) but please let the myth and rumors of the vents clogging with snow, melting, and getting your head wet die. Its complete BS. The helmet works as advertised and keeps the head really cool. I took the helmet on a bike ride in the desert and i am so excited for a well vented helmet for the summer! I did break off two vent fins this year, but Klim offers replacement vent fins and they were simple to install.

love my F4..... light weight, and great fit.....

a little on the spendy side, but when I was looking at helmets, the thought kept going through my head; is an extra hundred bucks going to kill me to get a helmet that fits perfect and keeps my head protected?

I am glad that you have had good luck with the Radiums. The percentage of boots out there that have had problems is way to high for any tyoe of products. I know that Klim is taking care of the warranties but does that help when you are 20 miles out in the mountains? I wish other companies (mainly HMK) would use Gore-Tex or another waterproof product because the boots are much better built and have far less warranties. I do not want to turn this into a bashing thread, I just hope that Klim takes care of the issues that they are having.

I really liked it for snowmobiling.
I now have a couple rides under it on the bike, and I have got to say, if there was ever a helmet made for warm weather riding, this has got to be it!

A++ for warm weather use! Its really light, keeps your head cool, and its very safe.

The only drawback I have with mine, is my ears miss the pockets for them slighty. This causes some discomfort. If they can get the fitment better, it would be Perfect.

NO! Absolutely not. KBC makes alot of the helmets out there, but not the Klim.

The price is actually low. The Klim helmet is retail at $376 and comes with an extra visor a breath guard a gore-tex liner and different cheek pads and a fancy bag.
Now, Snell tells us that this helmet ranks with the Shoei, Arai, Troylee design catagory.
So lets break this down.
Shoei V-moto base model. $434 retail and it comes with a cheap cloth bag. And I've seen visors cost $109
Arai VXpro3. Retail $605 comes with a cheap cloth bag.
Troylee Design SE2. $495 comes with fancy bag and extra visor.
Fox V3 retail $375 and no longer comes with extra visor and bag with all models.
Now please don't get me wrong. The Klim isn't the end all be all of helmets. It does need some work in the fit catagory. The helmet fits me great, but it isn't for everyone. It is an excellent helmet for a first year design.

I have been planning to do a write up comparing the Klim Shoei Fox and Bell. My testing is done, but haven't had the time to do a writeup. And this thread isn't about those.

Just a quick note on the boots. I can't even count how many Klim Adrenalin and Radium boots we sold this winter with 0 yes 0 warranty issues. And if there would happen to be an issue, Klim has by far the best warranty in the business. I deal with 100's of companies and can say this with confidence.

Sorry, about the rant. Just wanted to clear up some misconceptions.
Cheers :beer;

bummer it's the 17th this spring. 6-7th in Sept.

"I can't even count how many Klim Adrenalin and Radium boots we sold this winter with 0 yes 0 warranty issues." Hmmm, of the many people that I ride with quite a few have the non-snowboard style. One person got his money back after the 2nd warranty. The toe rubber is too soft to clear the running board. Klim reccomends using your heal??? Other than him 3 of 5 of the others had to send theres back also for problems. Waterproofing on 2 and toe on the 3rd. I am glad that you have had good luck but my experience has been different.

got a whole season with my klim helmet

the good:

- light weight
- no sweat
- two liner sizes, and two cheek sizes, this is a good variable
- breath deflector works perfect
- no snow does not pack in the vents and melt on my head, this is only said by peolpe who do not have one

the bad:
- hard to find goggles that fit right
- the vent fins will break off, all of mine are gone, klim should give us new ones and super glue the heck out of it, or be done with it and make this part bubber, a brittle plastic is not a good idea
- the cheek pads to helmet fit is sorta weird, its like the helmet rides high and wants to bounce around on bumpy trails

bo6ttomline - the helmet is great, except the fit and finish needs work, sorta like a boss seat

...into the 2nd season of my Adrenaline boot. I bought it, because my hmk made my feet sweat like a whore on dollar day. I bought them based on the fact that they were lighter, and breathable, quite like my Danner hunting boots. If I had to guess who made the boots for Klim, I would wager that Danner/Lacrosse manufactured the boot. Anyways, boot has worked flawlessly for 2 seasons, they don't look like new, but they function well.

....the only wish I had for them was that they came out with a boa type lacing system, then they would be the ultimate boot. Looks like Santa, err Phatty, has confirmed my wish!!!

I've also been considering buying this helmet and judging by the masses, sounds to me like it's worth the $$$$$$$$$$$$:beer;
