What's so great about the power claw compared to the challenger

power claw

I have changed from challanger on my M1000 to claw, starting up, climbing, riding through the trees, feels like I put more HP to it. Also my wifes M8 has one. You will love it.Most of are riding is 9/11000ft

It just works better...............

I guess they're both black and go round and round, so that part's the same.

Never had a powder claw under me but from what I gather it doesn't trench it self in when climbing, you might slow down but it keeps on tractoring farther up, challenger spins in and you either have to side hill out of it, turn our or get stuck. Better over all hook up and flotation. That's about what I have read about it. Down side is coming back down it's not so great. That's all with out having ridden on one so take it with a grain of salt.

The powerclaw works MUCH better than the Challenger. Two of us with 153" Cats were out last winter. I had the powerclaw, my buddy had the Challenger. We dug most of the day to keep him riding. He was shocked that I never got stuck and bought a powerclaw over the summer.

last season over the end of the season we had both camo -x tracks and pc's..in 4 different ride areas with totally different kinds of powder the camo consistently out performed the pc...both are good tracks though....

I went riding in baseless champagne powder at Daniel's Sunmmit today .... for as dry and light as the snow was, I actually thought this PC track did pretty well ... which sort of surprised me, because it appears to be a stiffer durometer than a regular Challenger Extreme and it has the fingers instead of another paddle every other length .... It did do pretty well tractoring up hills today, I only got the sled stuck once (first hill I tried to climb on new sled, of course it gets stuck LOL) ...

I dunno, today was the first ride on the new sled, I'll have to see how it does in the middle of February :)

I have the Camo Extreme on my other sled and like it too but, this post was comparing it to the run of the mill challenger. In that comparison the challenger is clearly outgunned.

Comparing the powerclaw to a Camo extreme, there are times (depending on snow conditions) where each outperforms the other. The camo extreme is quite a bit heavier but, works well none the less.

When you start to lose momentum and start digging down when climbing, the powerclaw keeps finding things to hook up on and keep you going much better than the challenger does. It also hooks up waaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy better on hardpack.

sorry frostbite...I thought you were comparing to the xtreme..yes I am sure the pc blows away the challenger....

Thanks guys. Wish I had the cash to put one on. Sounds like the cats meow. How much do they cost? Where do I get one if I get the cash?

I don't understand why it wouln't be better comming down

The curve of the track is forward, that makes breaking better not worse. With the old Attack-20 going down a mountain when the track had been reversed was a bit of a problem, but not when it was run in the powder position. Where do you get these ideas from? A rumor?

Had a PC on my M1000, great track almost everywhere. In powder snow it has no equal. That being said, the PC on downhills on set up snow is scary fast. I've installed a Camo Extreme this season, and I prefer it in most conditions - especially downhill. The stock challenger is junk - you may as well put a 136" x 1.25" under the sled. Everyone has thier opinions, and it is just that - opinion. IMHO, the Extreme is my 1st choice, PC second, and stock challenger in the dumpster - maybe it's that our snow is a bit wetter and heavier then the snow that falls south of the border...

I thinks its important we are all talking about the same thing here

AC Stock "Challenger" is nothing close to a Camo Challenger or extreme Challenger. While theres no doubt Camo build the AC version is of lesser quallity the both latter's.

I ride where the track was developed, it works very well spring, early, everything.

If you look close it's like a paddle track and finger track had a one night stand. As such, you get the best of both.

dont forget its also a 1-ply track = less power to turn = more flexable to sidehill !

If my wife keeps the M7 it's got one in its future

hi
so i have a couple of buddys that ride with diff tracks one is a 162 pc floats well pulls great but he has hit trees on the way back down says that the attck 20 was better going back down but loves how it climbs i run the 156 camo with 2.5 paddles and i love it trenchs a little more in the sugar snow but always finds some thing to grab to keep going the last guy is on a 153 stock ac camo and it trenchs alot more then my 156 but still pulls good and he can stop going down the hill so i would say camo ex then pc and finaly the ac camo just wish the pc would stop better going down hill instead of being a carnavle ride

One big difference is that the pc doesn't shed snow when braking, so you HAVE to let off the brake or it just turns into a skid going down the hill. If you go on & off it's still not better than the 2.25 challenger, it's about the same, but requires more input to do the job.
One odd thing I've noticed, my 141 brakes better than the 153's we've had, seems backwards, but if it's a matter of getting rid of the snow, it would make sense as the 141 would have less snow to get rid of.

think of it just like skinny tires when mud running, if there is something to bite it will find it. on the 141 there is more weight per sq inch to dig in better. the CE has a three lug pattern that can penetrate hard snow better the PC is full half lugs that like to hold snow so its like and avalanche, snow sliding on snow, you have to keep it turning when braking. I have it pretty well figured out and it works quite a bit better slowing down than the stock Challenger.
