But, my idea of caring about government is making government smaller. Placing a premium on common sense, and less on emotional based decisions. Holding people accountable for their actions.

A liberal's idea of caring about government, is making more rules, increasing the flow rate of money, and listening to people complain about how bad their life is.

Sorry, but this thread is a waste of time, neither candidate or party is worth voting for because they are all guilty of spending our hard earned social security donations many times over and then lying about it, they are all guilty of living like kings while the rest of us work until we die. I used to believe that conservatives could save the country (used to listen to Rush), but they have had the last 8 years to do something and they, with the liberals help, have brought us to the brink of collapse and cayous. I will never grace a voting booth with my presence again nor will I watch political parties spend countless billions on conventions, elections, private jets, mansions, pork barrel projects and lobbyists. Yeah, Obammy wants to change America but I doubt most of us will like it if we survive and McCain is so old and stupid he will just continue to do nothing. Do you actually have proof of any of this. Something smells like a idealized mom post-death creation. If she was so freaking great, why did she end up a single mom? Bad choices in life, possibly.

Obama actually stated that his mother was on food stamps. Yes she studied in college, but wasn't her mother footing the bills. You know the Obama's grandmother, the one with a job. And I'm sorry, but is Anthropology really a responsible degree, outside of teaching?

Why have you cared more about making your precious money then leaving the government in good condition for your kids? Everyone wants to blame someone, but it has been the inaction of 30-50 year olds that has gotten us where we are. The whole, I don't like what they are doing, but I would rather make money than do anything about it...

Anyways, there has been a shift (maybe starting with the baby boomers) that has made US citizens complacent about their government and operation. I don't care what you believe in, but dangit stand up for it! Everyone here talks about how crappy Obama is, and how McCain isn't that much better. Well, then stand up and make some fricken noise about it. How many people you think there are in the same situation? I would guess a lot, yet we are all led like sheep towards these two regardless.

It just seems that we would rather whine than do anything about it... Kind of like the lack of response due to SAWS alerts..... Everyone is pissed about people taking our riding areas away, yet the average sled head doesn't put any time into it....

Again to repeat, I am not trying to argue Obama vs. McCain here, though most seem like they would rather rehash old arguments..

My question, is why have we gotten here? How have we gotten here? Here, as in the people unwillingness to put forth any effort into a government that they want....
