What turbo kit should I buy for my pro and why?

So I decided I'm gonna buy a pro and turbo it.I've been doing some research on all the kits, but I don't know what to believe anymore. I want to run mostly pump gas on low boost, 6 to 10psi, between 1000 and 9000 feet.I do also want the option to:face-icon-small-con turn it up if needed.also I want to set it and forget it.pull and go.please help out a rookie.cheers

Silber was the only company that had a reliable set up for 2011, boondocker and OVS claimed the same but I've spoken with several people who had one or the other and none of them were happy with the results.

Call Michelle at Oregon Trail Sports (freeagent here on the forums), she can get you pointed in the right direction and for a good price.

I have been more than happy with our HM Turbo's kit with water to air intercooler. The colder charge temps have to be worth power, and if you ride in deep BC pow, then you will be on the throttle more, which does build heat.

I also like the fact you don't have a separate oil pump or coolant lines to the turbo.
In packed snow it is heads up with a 240 hp MCX Nytro running only 8 lbs boost as opposed to the Nytro at 14.

If your interested, go see Jordan at VP fuels in Calgary and check the kit out. I know he has one in stock. We can install it if you like. Boost-It has a retail shop now and only works only turbo sleds, and our labour rate is way less than your going to get in the city. We are only 1 1/2 hrs from Calgary.

I went with the silber kit due to the fact that he is only 75 miles from me and I could get more support. I like knowing I will have some support if something does go wrong and I cannot figure out the kit. That was the main selling factor for me. If I did not go with silber I would've gotten a HM or Twisted setup.

That is one of the smartest answers I have ever seen on Snowest!

It amazes me the people that do not even consider service when they buy something.

In the sledding world, if you have a problem, you want it dealt with fast and no hassle. The crossing border issue is just another example of that. If a US company really wants to go after cdn business, then IMO they should have some or at least one strong dealer with the proper training and some parts in stock.

In my line of business trying to deal people over the phone can become a large hassle at times. Knowing that you can take your sled somewhere or to somebody and have them look it over where they know what they are doing not only saves them time on the phone it saves me time and money also by being able to get back to what I bought the sled for and that is riding it. I understand this is not feasable for everybody but it should something that should be looked at, just like finding a good dealership.

Good support or having extensive knowledge is key. Find a good reputable dealer and go with that. Personally, I trust twisted.

i agree, service is key. but what i am aming for with this thread is to find out the pro's and cons of each kit. so far what i have been told. is boondocker has the most advanced box on the market for altitude adjustment, small turbo but spools the quickest. silber kits rock but the attitude box has problems. twisted kits produce tones of power but run the attitude box as well. arrow charger im not sure. hm im not sure. keep in mind i am a turbo virgin and dont know what im talking about. these are just answers im getting from some threads on here and a few phone calls to turbo supplyers. im sure i might be getting some bogous info, so i hope someone can point me straight.

Neil, are you going to have your boost it system available this year for the Pro? and if so what is both the cost and the difficulty of dialing it in?also now that you have some time on the pro turboed...whats your impressions and how does it stack up to the other sleds?

HM turbo's are shane hart(great guy from what I have heard...and his stuff is also available thru Curt at Fastrax motorsports(both parts and turn key as needed) I have a good friend with an HM kit on a dragon..it is very well engineered and runs great...my choice(I have not had a turbo yet) would be either a silber, a twisted or an Hm..last on my list would be a boondockers.....personally I would rather run neils boost-it fuel system with which ever turbo kit I liked best and not even use the supplied kit fuel system..(I think neils setup is the best of all worlds as far as performance, ridability and responsiveness from what I have been able to gather)...maybe neil will chime in here and share some knowledge.....

Don't be fooled, the smaller turbo has less response than the large turbo, and the larger turbo will also create more power at less boost and keep the charge temps down lowering the risk of detonation. I haven't heard of any prob with the attitude??? but I have not seen one on a pro, I have seen a lot on other sleds and they work just fine. Wouldn't get a areo either

Whats wrong with the Aero? Ours seemed to work flawless last year. I think someone told me that it was no good for over 12 lbs boost, but who cares. Our sled at 8 lbs boost was as fast as any 2 stroke turbo I have ever seen.
The charge temps never got over 90 deg at any time no matter how long the pull.

We will release a controller for the Pro this fall. Our Pro works as good or better than any Pro I seen last season. Many of the Pro's I seen actually didn't run that good at all. The Pro is tricky to fuel, and we have one more test we want to try before we release it for sale. The controller is 700.00 (yes it's way more than a Dobeck), but it does way more than a Dobeck, and has much more adjustability.

how come boondocker has not figured out to use a bigger turbo yet? from what I have read that small turbo should be less responsive, make less power and more heat at equal boost.

Just my opinion, I havent seen them hold up, but doesn't mean they wont. I also havent seen very many so I prob should have just said it makes me wonder.

Why do they have end less updates, who knows????

Interesting...how many failures have you seen with the 66 series?

I went with the silber because I have yet to hear a bad thing about his kits or customer service, and I live in Ak, close to the same elevation he's at so I know it will work for low boost-dense air, and I don't really have the option of a close by dealer for any of the turbo kits out there.

What does it do more than the dobeck? I apologize but i'm not really familiar with boost-it and was just wondering.
