What the Best Bike For a Tibersled Kit

I imagine the extra's on the exc add up to a lot of weight. That would be the majority of the difference for sure. I have independant data on the 450sxf dyno at 57hp and with a Pro Circuit T5 race system, dyno 60hp. I will publish all doc's and articles with the build.

The aim of this years project is to add all the factors people want, and the great little extras, to a purchase bike. Not a "shop project" to build. And have the "best all around"? pkg. ? Not to ever start the argument of "which is better, or best". That's not the goal.

Example; If you have two exact bikes, Bike #1 weighs 245lbs, and Bike #2 weighs 235lbs, then Bike #2 get's points for the weight advantage. If you have two bikes that weigh the same but one of them has 5 more hp, then that one gets the points for the hp advantage. Then the real kicker is if the lighter bike is also the one with more hp, it gets additional points, etc etc....

I will cover everything. Engine, ECU, injector type and location, injector characteristic differences, cam and ECU differences, clutches, starting, gearing, fly wheel's and effects, weight, HP, etc. and all the obvious things.

It has been a fun process and a learning experience.

Here's a little teaser for you; From MXA,

MXA'S 2013 KTM 450SXF MOTOCROSS TEST: IF YOU ARE LOYAL TO YOUR BRAND, IT IS TIME TO START THINKING ABOUT A SHIFT IN ALLEGIANCES
Let's see – strongest brakes, best clutch, most powerful engine, easiest starting, best overall handling and most creative design – but it's not perfect
As a test we bolted a two-meter-max legal aftermarket exhaust system onto the 2013 KTM 450SXF and reached 60 horsepower on the dyno. That means that with oxygenated MR-12 VP fuel and aftermarket pipe this bike could pump out close to 63 horsepower.

This was copied and pasted from Motocross Action Magazine. I will attach a link to all data as we put the bike together and cover all the points and comparisons.

Biggest drawback to the 500exc (after stripped down for winter) is probably the wide ratio trans. Moving from wide ratio to close ratio was a big jump in performance for me. I think one of the main reasons the 511 Husky works so well is because 1-3 is CR and 4-6 is WR. There are other reasons obviously, but the trans is a biggie.

Any independent dyno #'s on the 500 exc? (stock, aftermarket exhaust, "trick" fuel etc)??

It would be interesting to hear from someone on the know what the actual spacing-diff you feel as you play with final drive ratios (bike sproket, primary bike sprocket and final drive ratio on bike)... perceived close ratio after final drive manipulations can be played with.... ie you can make a WR box feel more CR with gearing final drive choices.

I think a lot of it comes down to what type of riding you do in the summer or if you even use the bike in the summer. For me my EXC all be it not new is a really great all around bike. It hauled me around all winter with no issues. I haven't ridden any other snowbikes not even my buddies WR but I had a blast this last winter. It would be nice to have a dedicated winter bike but its not in the cards for me so EXC it is. I kinda went off the deep end with my sleds so I'm trying to keep it simple with the bike. Basically just get out there on whatever you've got and make work its worth the effort.

I have mike laffertys husaberg fx 570 with the cr 6 speed tranny and my riding partner has the FE570 with the std tranny which is a 5 spped and I can be in the sweet spot way easier with closer gear spacing,Im in 3-4 hes in 2-3 but were both going the same places same speeds!ITS ALL GOOD!
