What the best 22 Cal. to Get???

Jamming is normally a function of cleanliness or component failing (case extractor). I really have no idea how many rounds I have fired thru my Remington but it is well into the 10000 mark. I have also fired close to that in my pistol. As I said earlier in 2 hours at the range I burned 450 rounds. I have had both guns since I was little kid 30 years ago. I have had mis-fires but I have never ever had either gun jam and trust me....I do not clean them as often as I should. I also shoot cheap ammo for plinking like Blazers or Remingtons. For no questions asked kills a HP hollowpoint such as CCI mini mags or match grade the way to go.

Tube fed rifles are easy to feed and probably a little quicker if that is important. However, tube fed such as mine only holds about 14 rounds. 2 clips for a 10-22 is going to give you at least 50 and if you can find a good quality 100 round barrel mag that is the way to go for burning up a lot of ammo. Neither is important to me. I have a Leupold scope mounted to my rifle and usually hit what I shoot at. Some of my buddies would rather spray a boat load of lead because it is more fun to them. To each his own...I shot plenty of fully automatic weapons in the military and nothing really compares to that! LOL

I have 3 10/22's and like them alot. also own savage, marlin, remington, ruger 77-22, henry all 22's. they all work well. get the one that fits you.

one more for the 10/22. ive had the thing for atleast 8 years and the only thing that i have seen go wrong is the ocasional jams with cheap shells. i have only seen one of them get to the point where i would say it was about wornout but that guy shot a lot and meen a lot.

on bit of advice is that if you are going to shoot a lot is to buy one of those speed loaders. they make life soo much easier to fill up the large bananna clips.

What brand banana clip do you guys have? What is the best ammo to use in the Ruger. I've heard of the cheaper ammo jamming in that gun.
With the stock barrel it loved just about anything but after i installed the match grade barrel it hated cci stingers. I found that any of the federal or Remington stuff works good even the american eagle brand.
Far as clips i just carry 4 stockers the 10 round ones plenty in case ya get into an ambush of rabbits or squirrels :D

I have butler creek 25 round mags. Be sure to get them with the steel lips, the plastic ones are not as reliable.

As far as ammo goes, usually whatever is on sale. It shoots it all. I do however think i am not gonna run anymore remington ammo. It does not fire as crisp and i think it is a little more dirty than blazer.

1 more for 10-22, I love mine! Also have an older Highstandard pistol that shoots pretty good too.

22lr

the ruger 10/22 is good, i also really like the marlin model 60 it is semi auto with a tube feed under the barrel so there is no clip to lose. it holds about 15 rds. as for ammo i like the agulia Supermaximum hyper velocity. it is a 30 grain bullet comes in sp and hollow point. it has over 1700fps velocity. this bullet really kicks A**. no missfires and feeds awesome

i got a marlin it is semi auto with a tube feed under the barrel for x mes when i was 16 I'm now 42 43 in Feb grate gun love it

I have a mid 40's tube fed Marlin, it is so stupidly accurate I can't see buying something new, but if I was, I'd buy either a new Marlin or a CZ. Buddy has a CZ that is wicked accurate.

ditto

I like the 10/22 also but if you are getting a pistol take a look at the walther p-22 it is a very fun gun to shoot and the barell comes allready threaded for a silencer.

speaking of pistols...does anyone know of this new 10/22 pistol? I've seen an ad for them from a gun/pawn shop in the thrifty nickel. A rotary mag pistol, now that could be fun!

10/22 Rueger

Tough little gun, can't hurt this gun will last a life time. Can't shoot flat noosed bullets or will jam. Also have come across 30 shot bananna clips that don't lift the front of the shell enough to go into chamber. Lots of after market acc... but some junk. Gun its self is the best, have a friend hauls his on his sled everywhere he goes looks like sh*t but hes had it for 30 years or better and still works perfect.
