what sled to get my wife??

My and my wife's vote would be for the Polaris 07 or 08 600 rmk 144 track if you can find one with efi I think it would be better. The efi is easier to start and goes into reverse easier. Also this may not seem like a big deal to us guys but my wife likes the fact that the seat is narrower on the RMK than say an M sled. She tried a M7 and a New Phazer before feeling comfortable on the 600. I did get her a 155 600 and she loves it, but in hind sight it may have been better to have started her on a 144.

My other tip, would be to make sure you make it hers, don't ride it. Stay off of it and don't let your friends borrow it. Little things like letting her load it on the trailer, help make sure she takes ownership in it. The more she takes ownership into the sled the more she will enjoy riding. Good equipment that she takes pride in makes all the difference in her and your riding experience.

I agree completely make it theirs not your back up and another vote for the 600 RMK I.Q. I have a 700 of the same sled and my mom rode it all last weekend and i could not get her off of it!

HOTRODREDNECK; We did the same thing. I sold my wifes 2000 550 fan and bought her a new RMK 600 with 144 and she loves it. Before she was luke warm regarding snowmobiling and now she doesn't want to head back to the truck. What more needs to be said?

ok, I would go with the 07/08 either M6 or 600 RMK. Reason being, easy to handle, reverse and easy to start. That and you can get some good deals on them about this time of year.

I would LET HER TEST RIDE IT. Coming off a 550 to a 600 would be a HUGE improvement in both handling, HP and ergos.

There are a number of dealers that would let her test ride a sled. Don't just go down to the dealer and have her sit on it, she needs to ride it.

i let my wife make the call, she rode everything and went with a RMK 700, I would say the M7 or RMK600/700 you can't go wrong with either one.

BTW hers is a 09 155 and we put Simmons gen 2 skis (10") on it, it's like she can't get stuck........lol.......:D

I guess my wife is the exception she is 26 -5'2 120 and has been ridding for 24 years yea not a typo we have her first sled in the house up on the pantry 1972 (i think) kitty cat first year built wore out 3 tracks and two motors!! from the age of 2-6 then went to a 488 trail rmk 1989 10,000 miles later went to another 1998 trail rmk 8,000 miles later went to a 04 600 rmk (sweet sled) 6,000 miles later I got her a 09 dragon (lighter than her old 600 i do recall) with a much higher resale value. It has been great watching her get used to the dragon after riding the older sled designs makes her look like a rookie lol

07/08 600/700 rmk

My vote goes for an 07 or newer 600 or 700 RMK or Dragon. My GF started on on 04 edge and was OK with it until she sat on my new 07 D7 155 and she loved it - could not get her off. Had to buy myself a 08 D8 163:beer;

Any Ladies like the Phazer?

I am looking to get my fiancee in the sport but she is sensitive to smells aka 4 stroke and unfamiliar speed scares her.

Cheers
Shawn

My wife rented a phazer for a day, she thought it was to heavy and awkward and she felt like she didn't have enough power to go with the rest of the group. She did however like the style of the seat and the electric start. As for the smell Ithink I PONE or someone makes some strawberry scented 2 cycle oil that you can run instead of normal stuff. Then your sled smells like burnt strawberries the whole day!! If that is better.

That is funny burnt strawberries... did the phazer just feel boondocking heavy or heavy digging out?

snobunny21 I see you are riding a phazer in your picture how do you compare it to an M8 or anything else you have been on.

Cheers

The Phazer is a good sled if you put the Gen 2 Simmons skis on it and widen out the ski stance. Otherwise I think you will find it too tippy for most women. Once we did that the ride was fine, but the power unboosted leaves a lot to be desired.

I am personally debating hard on a 08 600 RMK, 09 M8 Sno Pro, or an 09 Nytro.

The Nytro has its own advantages like all 4 strokes. The main one being resale and longetivity, durability.

As far as the other 2 go I can't decide if the M8 is worth the extra coin, being that it is mainly for my wife and the extra power will go unused by her, but would be nice for me to ride if I'm brokedown. I think they weigh about the same, and probably will ride similar. Any thought on the these 3 specific sleds?

Ride the 08 600 rmk in a 155... I think you will be very inpressed. I would not mind riding that all day if my 800 mod were down. It's not what a 600 was back in the day. Almost like getting back on the kids indy lites or a phazeer...so light and easy to throw around. A ball to ride and as bullet proof as they come. She will love it, and will still be a good back up.

Serious they did make a strawberry smelling 2 stroke oil that people ran in scooters, when I worked in a dealership, all the gals and some the guys that bought scooters would run it.

The phazer was goofy tippy, but without a big horsepower hit it makes boondocking and riding the steep and deep for us a little tougher. Also no one else we knew had one, so how do you give someone tips on riding something so different. And the only snowbunje I have ever seen break was on that phazer... 80hp and over 500 lbs, just wasn't a good combo for her or the bunje. The other thing that she couldn't get used to was that the fact the phazer just stops when you let off the gas, there was little to no roll in it, she had to constantly ride it with her thumb.

my wife loves her 06 600 for all the above reasons, reverse is huge, but also the rider select for driving out and heading home at night is the reason she wont let me trade it.
