What simple things could the MFG's do that they aren't doing now?

NO!!!!!!

Can turn a nice looking sled into something Hideous!!! I've never had problems with the correct tank neck fuel gauge.

I'll take function over fashion any day. I never wondered how much fuel was in my 04 rev. This digital pile of junk I have now is nothing more than a guessing game.

How about a sled that get's you back to the trailer every time, and I don't mean on the end of a rope. How about a failsafe system that keeps the sled running when one their electronic gizmos (theft deterrrence, etc) goes belly-up. How about running the recoil rope through a solid tube or covering so that oil and gas and whatever do not get splashed on it. How about button-head bolts to hold the susupension in the tunnel so your boots aren't rubbing against those hex head bolt heads, (I already did this ). How about a vent tube down to the clutch and belt to keep them cool and make your belts last for years (I do this on all my sleds), I could go on forever but I will quit for now.

I know, I'm the same way. I like things practical and don't really care to the extreme how the product looks. My electronic BS on my 900 has failed me many times on the fuel gauge, so I just use a cap bobber and that works perfect for me now.

Fit and finish. Some kind of quality control as was already stated.
More R&D before releasing new models. Increased reliability as also stated.
A better drive system able to transfer power more efficiently.

1)Offer a bare bones sled for the guy who is going to mod right away. Polaris was on the right track with the Shift.
-No decals
-No windsheild
-No warranty
-Basically a rolling chassis with an engine

2)Allow people to actually ORDER, not just put their name on a sled in the spring. Choice of:
-Gearing
-Clutching
-Track
-Color
-Shocks etc

I for 1 would give a little weight for reliability and practicality.I've blown 3 walker evans shocks on my TD8 this season and I am 59 years old,not braging just a little dissapointed. Another feature I liked was the adjustable handle bars. Yamaha needs to address their grip and bar configuration from the start,I think both suck.and all of them need to address the venting issues as well as the snow build up on the boards of late, we never had this problem with the heat exchangers under the foot( I actually asked my dealer if he could put some on mine)

200 hp at 450 lbs

hand warmer tape in the tunnel to keep the snow off (just an idea)

suspention options on snow checks

Hooks on the pipe so you can spring down your muff pot....Slp.....

better fit and finnish - no snow leaks to air box.

I like the base model idea, no stickers, no bs, no warrenty for mod platforms.

Better snow removal on running boards like F-bomb

for the clear gas tank dilema, how about a clear 1 inch strip down 1 side of the tank near the seat? And yes the bare bones ready to mod sled would be nice. Arctic cat should also come out with a mountain ready crossfire like doo did with the renegade.

How about instead of snow check giving one the order option to not have certain parts put on a sled... Lets say you're not happy with the clutches or seat and so on give the buyer the option and then deduct the retail amount off those parts and then sell the sled....

So something like buying a sled from factory without any seat, exhaust, airbox, shocks/suspension, maybe hood, spindles, bare clutching, no ski's in some cases.
That would be a nice thing to see from factory.

2 yr, full warranty (force better quality )
when ordering a snow check you can get the right seat, riser bar option etc, instead of having all the extra costs to set it up for yourself.
narrow and wide ski stance, not wide and widder.

Polaris Sleds

On IQ's get rid of the stupid headlight adjuster that dumps snow into the air box and drain hole that drains into the right side power valve vent.

Okay, whos the guy whos going to send this thread to polaris,ski-doo, arctic cat, and yamaha?

I would like

Floating secondary- best thing in the world, cheap also!

harder springs and shocks on mnt sleds.

ceramic coated pipe rather than heat shield

better running boards

exteneded cables

higher, narrower seat

start making enough room to throw 3" lugs on without DR

stock scratchers,reverseable

stronger bumpers

all bottons /toggles to dash

air induction to clutches

smaller airboxes

NMMiles,, ya not quite that extreme but maybe. How about in different levels or something like that. I'm not that much of a mod sled addict some mods are nice but, as fragile as some of these sleds are now I wouldn't want to take away to much durability for the sake of a few pounds.
