What not to buy

So I know everyone has their "favorite" brand of sled. We all read about the good and the bad on each of them and mostly it seems to turn into a brand bashing session.
Seriously though, can you really go wrong with any of the new mountain sleds? I'm not a brand loyal kind of guy. I've owned all the brands and was happy with the particular sled that I had at the time. I currently have a Cat and a Poo in the garage.
Can you really go wrong with any of them?

This year is a great year for all of the manufacturers.
All great sleds, no major issues with any of them. G4 is still unproven but i doubt its a dud.

GS6

You should pick up a copy of the latest SnoWest magazine. They ride all three of the top 800/850 sleds.

I would agree that you really could not go wrong with any of them though, you probably have to wait until next year to get a G4 Doo because those were in limited numbers this season. I would take either the Cat or the Polaris over the current Doo XM.

IMO there's differences on what one might enjoy more....Cat is a better trail sled if you do a lot of trail riding, is capable off trail but takes more effort. Skidoo can be a bit squirrelly on trail is very capable in the back country but you better be quick or you'll be riding behind the sled(response time). Poo does trail well but not great, rides relative easy off trail handles the back country well, but some years(08-12) motors had some issues sooner then other brands.

In all honestly I think the answer is NO.

No one is making a piece of junk right now.

The Doo G4
The Poo Axys
The Cat M8000
The Yami Sidewinder

All 4 of these sleds are going to deliver a GREAT RIDE in the mountains, and each one of them has a unique and distinctive personality.

I would have NO problem at all in parking any of them in my Sled Trailer and riding them for the season. And in fact this season I will have Yami, Poo and Doo in my trailer and on the mountain..

Pick one that matches your suit and helmet or your truck or whatever else you think is the most important thing. Could be lightest or new engine or BNG, it really doesn't matter as long as you have a sh$t-eating grin on your mug every time you punch the flipper! They will all get there now-a-days with just a little experience and a bit of courage. Just have fun and remember to bash whatever you didnt buy!!!

I ride a 14 cat but ride with mostly Polaris and a doo here and there. a few years ago there were differences in engine durability and chassis durability but also the more durable ones were heavier. I think now they are all very reliable and can all handle well whether its trail or backcountry. the biggest difference in them is riding style and preference. if I didn't have a sled, I would rent from somewhere that had multiple brands and try each out and then buy the one that felt the most natural.
