What is it about Yamaha Riders?

Sorry if I pirated your pics, they are on Drew's photobucket page.

We've had a very good working relationship with Caleb and I wish he would come back on SW, but he explained to me his reasons and I completely understand where he is coming form. He is the ultimate tinkerer and, regardless of brand loyalty, we can all learn a lot from him.

No worries, everyone's welcome to my pics, including drew. And to be fair most of them were his. Caleb and Ralphy both do impressive things with these sleds, but to compare them to stock yamahas is a joke.

I can agree they are far from perfect from the factory. But I will say as far as jumping goes...

The running boards are week, something has to be done to them. There are many options I think Caleb and I are both on the extreme end of what needs to be done and what sled does have factory bomber boards?

The skid on the 08's most so is garbage and something needs to be done, basically anything will be a big upgrade.

Front shocks need something good, because lets face it they are heavy sleds. There are many options and the factory floats on the new ones may be good enough? Good valving is key though, bad shocks (or shock set up) will bow your A arms. But I think once again I think thats true on any sled.

Other than that they are really tough sleds, I try to destroy mine every time I ride it. It took me 3K miles of it to finally crack my lower A arms and a tree to finally bend my Un modified 08 sub frame.

Before I bought my sled I talked to Caleb quite a bit and one quote I remember is "they do fly good". That is one thing I couldn't agree more on they are at home in the air.

My sled was stock until I totaled it around January. As far as jumping goes this sled instilled more confidence in my jumping abilities than any other sled I've ridden. It fly's straight and true and is pretty damn balanced in the air.

I'm not doing anything like they do on the Slednecks films but definitely more than your average rider. The rear skid on my 09' is the only thing holding it back from me dropping bigger stuff, but I'm a far cry away from the 180lb rider that the stock suspension was designed for...

We can sit here and offer our experience to you in threads but I'm getting the vibe that really it doesn't matter what we tell you, your not gonna believe me anyway. So...get out and ride one! :)

The yami has really strong points that you never have to worry about(engine, belt life, etc...), and all the weak points (weight, skid etc...) are so obvious that when you buy a yami you have already excepted its weaknesses. So b1tchin about it would only make you look like an uneducated fool. So the only worry is which parts to buy and if you have enough money to buy them. It also helps that yami is in a league of its own and hasen't had much comparable competition, tell now. So I expect to see a little more now that theres going to be something to compare to.

I think in general people that pick Yammi are people that are les emotional and more data and factual based, they dont beleive that the local guys at the end of bar who say they heard thier friends, 3rd cousins, aunt say yamahas are junk. They understand the machine, and dont make spontaneous decisons. I have found most yammie riders in a conflict will say "lets have a beer and talk about this" where a AC rider will punch you in the face. No different on the forums I guess??? (not bashing AC its just a example)

If I could figure out how Yamaha did this I would be rich, its brillant marketing!
