What is eating my track? On my 24' 9r

Pics are the inside of the track, middle windows. Sled has about 500 miles and I have the 2.75 track.

I've checked the few "things" the inside middle of the track might touch, and everything looks normal.

2nd pic are the windows directly above the first pic.

Looks like there's contact from either the top or bottom rear track shock mounting points.

I edited my post to disclose year and model. Sorry I forgot to mention that. But I believe this would be impossible based on sled.

Mine has done the exact same thing. I'm not sure what it is.

Have you had the dealer look at it? How many miles on your sled? What model?

Buddy has a 24' 850 with about same miles, no issues on his. His sled has the things that look like a nut, on only the outer windows. He has the same track, the 2.75.

I have about 500 miles on my sled.

Mine is a 22 khaos 165. It did it last year. My front track shock was blown out as well. I pulled the skid and checked everything out. I replaced all the bogey wheel bearings and got the shocks re built. I just assumed I ran something like a rock or stick through there and chunked the track. But seeing someone else's looking the same has me wondering if it's something else. I put e6000 on the chunked parts of the track and have been riding it ever since without any problems

Happen to remember about how many miles were on your sled at the time?

Stock shocks?

Somewhere around 900 to 1000 miles. Stock shocks. It ripped the clicker adjusters off as well, so something was in there

ok last question(s) - curious on my pic, in the center of the windows; the object that looks like an acorn nut.

Do you have 3 of those exposed across the track? Or just 2? My buddy with the 24' khaos only has 2 exposed, on the outer windows. I have 3 exposed. Him and I are wondering why ours are different despite being the same track.

And what the heck could get wedged, and where, to cause this? I don't see anything getting caught in the front roller that moves the track. Top of rear shock is smooth/rounded but mine has a divet/bump towards the rear. Top of front shock is also smooth/rounded.

Bummer for sure... could've been ice, a stick, anything.

I just looked at mine and there's about a half inch of clearance between the top of the FTS and the window, so if that iced up and wore it could tear as you had happen.

Do you often ride in warm/slush conditions where ice builds up? Thaw in heated trailer/garage?

If nothing else, it's a great opportunity to get a 3" or 3.25" track.

Good point - maybe ice.

I have a heated garage. Did put 55 miles on Friday; this was the only time I was not able to thaw overnight and rode about 30 miles Saturday.

hmmmm...check out this old thread:

@JH@CM @Tjtwenty
2 totally different types of damage on different sleds.

The sled referenced in the old thread has a center driver

Clips are now on paddles so the wear is much less between the clipped eyes.

Your damage on your 2024 is in the center of the track where the sliders don't touch.

Your 2024 doesn't have a center driver.

Just wait till that woodchuck gets under the hood oh baby!!!
From the the threads electrical threads above looks like the 🪵 woodchuck has declared war on Polaris

Just a thought, Polaris changed track specs on the 2.75 series 6? Track for a year back in '22 or '23? Narrow driver's verses wider drivers, from memory. If a narrow drive track is used on a wide driver drive shaft or vice versa. It will only drive from the center extrovert part of the driver. As the center is unclipped, and the involute lugs aren't keeping it timed correctly. The extra force / wear will look like that shown in the original posters pics.

Scroll up 3 posts.

It's a series 8 track.

I was referring to the original post and pics as I said in my narrative. I've been out of sledding due to family and job crap, but have read a bit about the changes / progression of chassis and changes. That nuance came to mind. That's all, if I'm wrong so be it, but I'd guess a lot of people out there don't even know about it, so figured it was worth a mention.

Yeah 2021 3.5 pitch 275 tracks were thinner belting and clipped between the lugs.

2022+ 3.5 pitch 275 tracks a little thicker and clipped on the lugs.

Mostly Eliminates the wear on belting.

Extrovert drivers on all 2022 + 3.5 pitch poo sleds. - (no center driver)
