A friend of mine is looking at buying a 2007 Arctic Cat M8 163" ... not the Sno Pro edition, just the regular one.

Sled has about 600 miles on it, appears to be in pretty good condition. It was stored outside and is a little dusy, but appears to be OK ...

What would you all expect to pay for a sled like this right now?

One Million Dollars!

Are they not that reliable or something?

I pretty much thought all 2-smokers werent that reliable?[/QUOTE

The m8 is the most reliable powerplant out of the 3 800's avail today. The 07 was a first year run, and there were many little upgrades to the 08 and again to the 09 that made the sleds better each year.
You can put most of these upgrades on the 07, but unless your buying it right you'll be better off picking up an 09.

I misread the initial post and thought he was asking about an M7 when he was actually asking about a 2007 M8. My bad.

I was saying that the M8 is very reliable which hurts the resale of an M7. Why buy an M7 when you can buy an M8 for close to the same money. So that would make the resale of an M7 lower.

M7's had some issues with electrical that contributed to a serious engine bog. I rode one that did it and it was nasty. I'm sure guys on here can tell you how to fix it if it hasn't been done. The M7 doesn't have reverse either. Still a good 700 although I think the Dragon 700 is light years beyond it (but not as affordable to buy).

I was told the other day that I could buy a brand new 08 M8 for $6200 so I would think that that would bring that 07 down to the $4k's

That's awful cheap!
I would be looking for the fine print such as "documentation fees" or "freight" or "set up" charges.
Dealer demo?

Even if it's legit, just because a dealer in Mictocnomowac WI is selling his last carryovers at that price has NO BEARING WHATSOEVER on what that same sled is worth in Idaho.
