SnoWest User: It was nice when you got new servers and we got the speed back.

SnoWest employee: Very good. What about the cool bar graph under your user name?

SnoWest User: Useless, I have no idea what benefit it provides.

SnoWest employee: Ok, how about the very useful tool to rate a thread?

SnoWest User: Useless, if you give it a green thumbs up nothing happens. If you give it a red thumbs down, then the person who posted it uses the search function to find your threads and starts giving you all red thumbs, and is all butt hurt because someone publicly disagreed with his post or opinion.

SnoWest employee: Ok then, what about the Thanks button?

SnoWest User: Somebody thanks me and let's the rest of the users know the like what I posted, great, I guess.

SnoWest employee: But we added private chat rooms?

SnoWest User: Useless. I use the PM function or make a phone call.

SnoWest employee: That's only you, hardly anybody uses a phone to make a call any more. What can we do to improve the site for you?

SnoWest User: Take that giant ad on the right hand side of the page and move it to the top or bottom. On smaller devices half my screen is taken up with the ad that only shows up in the first post or 2 but still takes up space on my screen for the entire length of the thread.

SnoWest employee: Oh we can't do that. Don't tell anybody this but I'll let you in on a secret. The ad at the side sells for more money, most users think it's because it is in a prime spot to be looked at the most. Our ad consultant tells us the real reason the focus group remembered it is because it is a subliminal irritant, that way they remember the ad but don't know why!!! Genius!

SnoWest User: I guess to have to make money somehow, still damn annoying.

SnoWest employee: We absolutely do need to make money! Did you read the Steve Janes blog? The last 4 years have been some of the hardest financially for SnoWest.

SnoWest User: Well things will improve now that we have Obama for president for 4 more years......

SnoWest employee: Get the hell out of my office you fraken liberal weenie.

SnoWest User: That guy obviously doesn't understand sarcasm.

Ive been running this for a year now. works great. Ive forgot all about all the ads on this site, because I don't see them anymore!

This may seem to be contradictory to the imaginary conversation above but I actually don't mind the ads, just the placement, in fact I assume they either get paid per click or base the ad rate on clicks/views, so I occasionally click on things I have only a mild interest in.

There is still a ton of good useful information here on SnoWest, you just have to wade through more cow puckey to get to it.

I agreee. This place has gotten so soft its Boring. Is it because it is now a paid site? Lost some of the original funny men...or gals. Too much Moderator? Shiat Distrubers being banned? What??
I seldom come here anymore.......but sure miss the good old days of the regulars.

This place is like the last forum I left in the dust ( snowmobile fanatics). That site was all about rules and regulations ans was more like computer nerds than actual sledders, this site is starting to be like that, how many sub forums can be made and some cheesy reviews, the paid membership killed off the majority off good members that created discussion that was worth logging on for. I would pay if this site was the way it was before, logged into bcr a few times but the yamaha section is an absolute ghost town.

I joined the site in 2000, loved it, almost considered myself an addict. I then spoke my mind about the whole pay thing and got booted from the site. I may have went too far in Christopher's eyes with my opinion of why it shouldn't go to pay and now the proof is in the pudding. This place has become stale at best, a fraction of what it ever was and only place I frequent when I'm bored. Ever since the tech sections are boring, the quality is terrible and bland, the knowledge is gone. I wish I could share more, or for that matter wanted to share my knowledge as christopher has taken my advice directly on his sled. However, I just don't feel it necessary to pay to spread my knowledge to others or even gain from others. I'm on many forums, all free and great place to learn, this was my favorite place and by far the longest place I would frequent, now it's the last with very little time spent. And as it looks, I'm not the only one......
