First of all thank you snowest for allowing us to have a forum to chat out such a great passion that is sledding....Ive been here for A LONG TIME.......

That being said....wtf happened. Is it me or has the mod section just died. I use to really read the Perf/mod and pretty much that only then I got a turbo polaris so I pretty much went to the turbo section there..... Now Im done with the turbo for now and back to a modded polaris pro and I have to sift through all the threads. 3-5 threads of what tether to buy or how to install a tether....what can will work with what head.....check out my wrap.....

Just want a area for the guys that want to really mod a sled to give input again......putting a wrap on a sled and bolting on a turbo these days shouldnt be considered a mod sled since 90% of the guys doing this look to snowest for advise on how to setup the turbo they just spent 4-6K on....really?

sorry for the rant.....

I agreee. This place has gotten so soft its Boring. Is it because it is now a paid site? Lost some of the original funny men...or gals. Too much Moderator? Shiat Distrubers being banned? What??
I seldom come here anymore.......but sure miss the good old days of the regulars.
Time to spark it up :)

Oh and from what ive gathered is that ANY can will work with ANY head on a pro......The only thing that matters is how pissed off your friends will get pissed on how loud it is since the only real thing you're gaining is a weight savings.....

WTF!!! You must be one of them radicals that loves the sound of horsepower!!
Whether it be a good running 2 stroke or a well tuned race car running open headers. Let me guess you probably love the smell of race fuel in the air, and use the phrase "2-stroke cold smoke" on a regular basis. C'MON MAN, don't you know the poor little squirells quake in fear when your sled goes by, not to mention the poor little birdy that just happens to fly through that toxic mushroom cloud of blue death when you first start your sled of on a crisp cool morning. Get with the times, your sled needs to be whisper quite, and god forbid it ever let out a puff of smoke!!! And by the way, stay on the trail!!! The bears are trying to get in a good nap!!!!

HAHAHAHA..........just kidding!!!! :face-icon-small-hap

Just an observation:

When the subscription issue came up, Christopher was all over it. He was the obvious scapegoat of the day. People paniced and found a new outlet. Once that settle down, SW still seemed like a good place to share and acquire information. I think the biggest issue for most non-paying members was the post limit on the threads. Once this limit was reached, a new thread was started so the limit on a non-paying member never really had any effect. Now, there are so many threads to keep up with I wonder if people kind of give up and move on.

Secondly, I think the stock sleds are exceedingly more capable than mod sleds from just a few years ago that once someone buys a new sled, there is not that many folks that are excited (or financially motivated) to tear into them. Granted, they dress them up and make them look different, but overall, I'm not sure there are a lot of "wrenchers" that need to come in to find out how to make their sled run.

I think the biggest thing is the switch to it being a pay site. For me its not the money at all. Its really a small amount of money. Its the principal of the matter. We are supposed to pay for access to information that WE are providing.

And I dont think conflict should be moderated unless it is REALLY out of hand. I want to hear about bad products and service so I can know to avoid it.

I think its due to how good the sleds are right out of the factory, there isnt a whole lot a guy can do unless he wants to spend some serious cash. At $11,000 I have a fully capable sled that is reliable. I can cut a few pounds with a can and a mesh hood about 17 to be exact, and not spend over $750. If I tried to cut another 17, I would probably be looking at spending $3000-$4000, am I gonna do that? HELL NO. Just not worth it. I could spend $500-$1000 on motor mods and maybe have a slightly snappier sled, but I will probably have to spend time messing with clutching, and a fuel controller, will be voiding the warranty and possibly affecting reliability. Worth it? Probably not, I'm just gonna worry about outriding the next guy. If I want huge power gains, I am gonna be spending $4000-$7000 on a turbo or big bore, definitely lose my warranty, and once again probably hurt engine life and lose major reliabilty and peace of mind while up on the mountain, and spend hours tuning and what not. None of its worth it to me. I will focus more on the little cheap things that will make my sled easier to ride, more comfortable, durable, better looking. That being said I am just your average guy, which I think is what this site mostly consists of. Theres just not that many guys willing to spend $5000+ on sleds that already rock.

I don't think I've been around long enough to know the "old days" its been pretty much same ol same ol since I discovered this site.

I think the primary reasons (this year) for lack of build threads, annoying threads, and b!tchy threads are:
- participation went down because it's a pay site
- sleds are more "high performance" than ever before, so its not as necessary
- sleds are difficult to modify because of how technically advanced they are getting
- sleds are extremely expensive to fix if you mod it and eff it up because they're becoming so technically advanced
- people don't want to buy all the extra equipment needed to mod current sleds (computers, sensors, etc)
- People don't have as much money to pi$$ away as they used to
- the Search button is never used because nobody knows how to use it or can't find it
- Moderators get comfortable in their position & probably get sick of topics quicker because they've seen them repeat so many times. Probably wouldnt hurt to switch up Mods every now and then.
- threads about b!tching breed more threads about b!tching
- same people complain about same things over and over because they want people to agree with them and they like the attention and drama
- poor snow conditions last year.
- anticipation of snow this year. Its been a loooong summer. (seems like it anyway)
- need :smow:

The performance section was rolled in to the model/manufacture specific sections.

No comment on the other things.

I personally had the same issues when it first changed. However, Change in the way we recieve magazines and newspapers is going to happen. It may of been early to embrace this change??? I dont know. But what I do know is it was coming regaurdless. I am not talking about SW, I am talking about media in general. Heck your local paper will be charging for there sites next, its happening all over the country. It was just time we embraced the change.

I agree, and most mods here do.

there is way more competition between sites now. Before you didn't have many choices. now you do.

It sure was a fun time here, I do believe this is a better site than say bcr, but there is not much here anymore.

That right there was by far the most stupid thing they could have done. That drives off all the people that were helping in threads, but didn't wanna pay to help them.

This forum became more about making money with all the advertisements, then actually helping people like it used to be. I'm a member of at least 15 different forums, and this one is the only one that want's money to use it. I refuse to pay, just because there are way too many other sled forums out there that don't charge. Most of the guys I used to get information from have moved to other sites.
It used to be I'd be on here every hour or so, but now I'm lucky if I stop by here once a week to see if anything is going on. Half the threads I've posted in though, I can't see anymore, because of the 75 limit.

What they should have done is add other features for paid members, but they should have never taken away the features everybody already had. JMO!
