What do you want out of a wrap and company

This was a question that was asked on Facebook yesterday.

Mayhem Design Works:
"So owning a wrap company that is newer than a lot of the companies out there, just wondering what everyone looks for in wraps these days? Is it price, designs, coverage, durability, just the brand name, or something else?"

Some of the responses were interesting and informative. So now I ask the question here.

What are your expectations?

Cut out for the vins would be nice... and more coverage of older sleds! At least back to gen 2 on the polaris sleds I ride a gen 2 hooded edge chassis and a edge chassis that needs a complete tunnel wrap and I cannot find a decent wrap for them! or they are just super cheaply made and or un godly tacky...

I like the HTR designs wraps
the guys are all super easy to deal with you can call and talk to a real person.
we did a custom wrap last year and they were great to work on the phone with and tweak the wrap till it was perfect.

I had questions on putting it on half way through the job they talked me through question.

of course fit, price, etc all are factors as well

great company to work with!!

Lots of choices in designs, and the ability to customize the wrap and see it yourself without having to send an email or get on the phone- AFX has that figured out to a point

Really, just great customer service and a great product offered. been having crappy customer service lately and it really turns a guy off.

Yup Emailed 3 places on a tunnel wrap, ready to buy and I cannot get a response to save my life. Decided I will just buy the some wrap material and do it myself as I am not one to bag people to spend my own money :frusty:

Who did you try to get in contact with?

Was it my company or someone else?

Thanks for the input. I enjoy hearing what everyone likes or dislikes. JUst trying to make a better company.

I want to be able to change colors with the click of the mouse...the technology is out there but doesnt seem to be on sled wrap websites.

be so nice to see exactly what your sled will look like before you hand over the funds!

If I was to do a wrap it would need to be the following:

1) Follow the lines and designs of the sled it's intended for including the tank, seat, tunnel etc. Nothing looks worse than a wrap that clashes with the seat or tank area.

2) Simple design offerings, why do a lot of people like Apple products? They are very simple to the point of being timeless designs. The more splash or bling on the wrap the quicker one will become tired of the design. No one is happy they bought a bright lime green car after about a week, why would they be any different with a sled?

3) Price needs to make sense. Over the top pricing limits the vast majority of casual sled people to only the die hards or ones with large amounts of disposable incomes

4) Install isn't an issue IMO, but removal would be a consideration when selling the sled or tired of the wrap all together.

Hope this helps.

You can do just that on artic fx's site, you can change colors designs, etc. its pretty sweet... I'm planning on ordering but hard to justify the price for something that has no purpose but to spruce up my boring black XM.

I like to just browse one I like then modify it but you can build them up from scratch too.

Interesting thread SledThread. I use wraps and they have to be durable because of the trees we ride in the backcountry in the mountains. They are constantly getting rubbed and scratched. Price is a consideration but guys don't mind paying for quality. If one is just trail riding, the wrap doesn't have to be tough (thick) but get into the trees and everything takes a beating. Being able to customize some of the basic wraps in the inventory is a must and the cost factor for customization should be reasonable. Colors that pop are nice and the wrap should stand out above the crowd, IMHO.

It is hard to please the masses but you are on the right track by asking the users what they would like. Good luck!

i find most wrap makers seem to do mostly 2d stuff & to me thats not worth the money,i want my wrap to look like it was air brushed, like this.

Simple, plain factory colors for the tunnel.

If this works to keep the snow off, then I think there is a market for folks that don't want the vast splash of color on everything, but a clean way to keep the snow and ice off the tunnel.

Example:
Polaris Pro: Clear, flat black, semi-gloss black, gloss-black, red, white, etc.

I think thats difficult because most of the printers and software is vector based ( 2d )

I have seen some of those ones that look airbrushed I'm not sure how they are able to do that.

Price point is a big one for me. I think 99% of companies out there right now are a little over priced. I wouldn't pay $300 for just the hood and side panels. Seems high to me.

Prices are way too high for what they cover. I had my full body stock cars done for the last 5 yrs and never paid more then 750.00 and that included a one off custom design, top quality material with clear protective overlay and installation. Price up a full sled wrap and your in the 600.00 range. The amount of material used on my cars would do 4 sleds.
