What do YOU do to summerize your pro?

Last season my sled had very few miles at the end of the season so I didn't do much but start it every couple of weeks...

This year I'm going to need to go thru it..

What are you guys doing to ensure all stores well?

GO!

Well last year I fogged the engine, put fuel a fuel stabilizer in the tank, removed the plugs and belt, put 6x6 blocks under the skid plate to take the weight off the shocks, used a silicone spray on all the hoses and lines.........and blew the top end this year!!!!! now with my '13 pro I will do NOTHING but put the battery for the starter on a charge & manually fire it up every few weeks! I have a large industrial fan to blow all the smoke to my neighbors yard!!!

I'm gonna take the top end apart and check it out, clean the exhaust valves, disassemble the suspension and clean and grease it, go through the clutches and just give the whole sled a go over. As for storing until I get to the above I'm going to leave it as is and start it once a month until it reaches operating temp. The fuel that's in it is good quality non ethanol and maybe I'm crazy but the only time I stored with stabil was the only time I had fuel system problems in the fall on two sleds... Haven't used it since.

Replace the fuel filter. This is both a runability and reliability issue, especially if you ever had to run ethanol, even once. Startron is a better alternative than Stabil now, whether you run eth or not.

Store it full

Fill'r to the brim with non eth premium fuel, top off your oil. My opinion empty tanks draw moisture. My sled only sits for maybe 6 months if that.

 Now that's funny!

Trade it in.:face-icon-small-dis Kidding.
I agree with BC_mtn_rider.
I have only fogged a sled once. Everything was ok except it ran like crap for the first 45 miles.
Every month I put in a sled DVD in the Bose grab a beer and start the sled. Always jacked up while it's running. Get all the moving parts moving. I know if I don't move for a while I get stiff!:face-icon-small-con
I put seafoam in my tank. Changing the fuel filter is good advice. To bad they want so much for them, but it's cheaper than having engine problems. Don't mean to hijack your thread but does anyone know of an after market filter. Polaris want's a pretty penny for their's.
:focus:

Park it in the garage, and about every 2-3 wks i will go out and start it and let it run for a few minutes.

I always suck out the pump fuel (to run it in my summer toys) and then throw in a few gallons of straight AV in the tank as it is made for long term storage w/o breaking down that is typical in aviation. Fire it up about once a month for a few minutes. Simple and easy. I have practiced this for years with different machines and never had an issue.

Warm it up Lift the track in the air, give it some braaps , get the clutches, chaincase, drivers etc involved...

Top the fuel off with 91 non eth (what I normally run). Top the oil tank off. Run some amsoil PI through it and fog it with half of a can of polaris fogging oil. Grease the suspension to push out any water that may have gotten in. Once it starts to snow again I suck out all the fuel that was in it over the summer and put fresh in and you're ready to go.

Todays gas pump gas, even non-ethanol, will go bad over the summer, even with storage additive, regardless of the brand.

Best NOT to have fuel in it, IMO.

I like to keep the tank full so the fuel pump doesn't sit dry all summer and also so condensation doesn't build up. I pump my gas out once the snow starts to fall and put fresh in anyway. Maybe my theory is way off but that's my theory.

That's about what I've done, stabil and top off tank, run for 5-10 minutes with oil pump rod at wfo until coolers hot. Shoot fogging oil in the cyls, slowly pull rope over, plugs in and done.

In the fall I suck out all the old gas and put fresh in. Never had a problem.
