I have seen pictures of the big KTM 690R on Timbersleds website but I have not seen any video of it in action. I would love to have this bike for summer and if it works well in the snow it would be ideal for me. The 2012 690R have a claimed 68HP and 51 lb ft of torque! I know it is heavy but with that power and EFI I would assume it would be fine for some one my size (6'5'' 300lbs). If anyone has one please chime in. Road, dirt, and snow would be awesome year round fun! 50MPG is a great bonus also.

My MH kit this year was on a '07 KTM 450XC-W. It ran great but I wanted a little more power and FI so I picked up a '11 Husaberg 570. The Berg puts out gobbs of power (60HP claimed) and only weighs 250lbs. This bike should make a pretty potent platform for next year. The big bonus for me is the Berg is plated and I can connect trails with it for summer riding. Maybe even a little dual sport riding for when I don't want to take out the 950.

you can have a full blown MX bike and E start with the ktm sxf450. with that in mind anyone run the 350 with a kit??

Three of us just bought KTM 350's so we'll see how they do this winter. We're all looking for some good deals on kits :)

Obviously, the 350 is a little under powered compared to the 450's but when your WFO it's hard to tell any difference! So far, I love the 350 for smoothness, power, light wieght and E-Start....

What are the "Other"'s?

I see 5 people have voted for "Other". I thought I covered just about every bike we have sold a kit for. I am curious, what are the "Other"s?

YZ250 2 stroke, probably the most fun I've ever had on the snow.
My 280 hp Nytro is fun too, but in a totally different way.

Thanks Allen..!! (and Fastoys)

500

Just got my new KTM 500 EXC now all I need to do is put some new bearings in my kit from my 530 EXCR and I will be ready for next season. I know I still could ride it for a couple more months on the snow but I am going to break her in with the wheels all summer first. :peace:

Snowbikes

I live in Minnesota and our winters have been pretty poor. I am hoping you guys can help me make a decision. I am sure the kit would be great in Minnesota. I am looking at replacing my 2011 sled, pro rmk with a husaberg 570 and mountain horse kit. I have looked at several videos and the snowbikes look like blast. We like to ride in the crotch or gulleys in the mountains, tight and steep. Can the bike climb as well as sleds? I can see that they are more maneuverable than a sled. Thanks

Sold the CR500AF for a Specialized MTB. No MH kit for this app :(

I have a KTM 380 that is for sale, but I wouldn't mind keepin' it for a MH kit. Just can't afford a kit for it. 'cuz I put all my extra $ into my sled, lol. I haven't rode my bike in the dirt in the last 1-1/2 years (except for a couple of quick rides around the place here, so I might as well sell it.
Sure would like to have a snowbike. Looks like so much fun.

I bought a new YZ 450 then the verry next day found a 570 berg so I switched to that ,,worried about the bike being top heavy with the motor where its at guess I will find out?i had a KTM 520 back in 01 and in 03 took it to a 540 and wow was it fast,,, I think this thing will be the same, only colder!LOL:face-icon-small-coo

XR650R Mountain Horse S/N 00017

Isn't there at least 2 Honda XR650R out there!
I know that there is @ least one, serial number 17.

My second will be a "06" KTM 525 XC with std MH
(My kids need electric start)

I luv the 650R as a mountain horse. @ 6500' elevation it will hande over 500lbs threw 2' of fresh powder and hardly break a sweat.

When I have it in the mountains 8K-11K I try not to spin the track. It seems to climb steeper grades by not spinning the track. ( Contrary to almost all of the hundreds of hours of video I have watched of the MH in action).

If I had a 690 I would have a MH kit on it. I would dual sport ride it in the summer and avoid the rough single track. I agree that it is to big and heavy for the tight single track on dirt. I have a hard time getting my 650R where my 525 will go on tight single track. I believe for me @280lbs and 6'5" a XR650R or KTM 690 may be the best over-all MH.

I reserve the right to change my opinion after we get the 525 on snow.

2009 KTM 450SX-F M/H Conversion

I just bought an 09 KTM 450SX-F to put the M/H kit on. I have a 2012 KTM 350SX-F as well and like that bike the way it is. I have talked to a few people, & was told the 09 that will make an excellent foundation to install the M/H kit.

Cheers

Ok so if I put the can on the trellis frame it will be twords the center of the bike in stead of cantalevered on the tunnel
