What beacon to use?

I'm with F-Bomb...when it comes to saving lives, turn the electronics off...you may be saving MY life!!! or someone may be saving YOURS!!!
As for the last post...used units! Unless you know the source...friends, family, etc...buy new. Why take a chance with yours or your buddy's life??? Even if you go expensive ($300 -$600)...what's your life worth?
Electronics off as part of the search prep and buy reliable (new unless you know the seller and the history of the unit)!

Me and some friends are Buying beacons, What should we get?

From avy classes to word on snowest to what a lot of rental places use it always seems to be the BCA tracker. I ordered a Tracker II but haven't received it yet, which reminds me I need to call and ask what the heck is going on.

Here is another vote for the BCA Tracker. I don't have any experience with anything else, but my beacon was acting up at the beginning of riding season. I sent it back to BCA and they gave me a new one in less than a month with no questions asked. I was really impressed with thier customer service/warranty. But like others have said it doesn't matter which one you buy as long as you practice and know how to use it.
