Wet Feet!!!

Any Suggestions for my problem with my feet getting wet when I ride powder.

I could ride trails all day and not get wet feet. When I ride powder my feet get wet. I purchase a new pair of boots thinking that is the problem and then shortly after I get wet feet by the end of the day.

I can't figure out how they get wet. I've tied my laces really tight on my boots thinking snow gets in through the top.

I've tried to move my feet back further on the boards thinking the engine and exhaust can just gets the boots too hot.

I don't even know what to try next.

Are you sure you're not just wetting yourself from the excitement of riding in the powder and that is running down into your boots? :D

I understand the whole cotton thing. So I will be purchasing some klim socks or some type of wicking socks. I already have whole socks I just need the wicking non whool type against my skin. I don't wear cotton anywhere else so why the foot.

This is what I am thinking so far.

1. foot gets hot and sweats.

2. top portion of the boot right above the sole and on top of your foot gets saturated with water due to hot engine compartment melting snow on your foot all day. So I need a boot with a waterproof tongue and outer that is still breathable. Sounds like Klim is the ticket for this.

You think I am on track with this?

I agree that it's most likely sweat. I have same issue and my feet don't sweat that much during any other activity other than snowmobiling. Water wicking socks fixed it 100%. I have a pair of the Klim socks, but the less expensive pairs I have work just as well. Check these out Columbia merino wool socks at Campmor.com for only $7.97. It's a great site for finding deals on good base layers, etc. too.

I get some snow in up by the top of the boot & the socks get damp there too, but the socks keep the dampness away from my skin there as well.

I know what the beat solution would be "DO NOT RIDE POWDER":face-icon-small-ton
Feet stay dry, correct.

Smart wool socks are what fixed it for me as well. I hunt in them and ride sleds in them and they are comfy and keep my feet dry all the time

Randy, I had a similar problem when wearing cotton socks. When trail riding, I run some heavier insulated socks for moisture wicking. Not sure of the brand, but they work great. For Powder riding, I just wear some cheap polypropelyne sock liners inside my boots with nothing else. At the end of the day, my feet are dry and the insides of my boots are slightly damp. A night on the Peet boot dryer and all good for the next day.

Yup. I have the boot dryer and I have wicking socks. I just never wore them against my skin before because I thought they were wool but they are smart wool. I actually sell them so I just buy the brand I sell. Still not sure it is enough. So I will probably pursue some Klims.

Surprised no one here recommends gators. A pair of gore-tex OR(outdoor research) gators covers damn near my entire boot except the sole and I wear a pair of cheap *** Keen ultra light snow boots without issue.

Klim makes some great socks for riding. Thinner ones for when it's not as cold out (or you know you'll be working harder riding in fresh powder), and thicker for when you need the extra. I'd definitely stay away from cotton.

X 2 I wear the thinner ones and feet are never cold. Cured my sweating problem!!

Fox River makes a good sock for far cheaper than SmartWool. I have both and they work equally well IMO.

I'm a foot-sweater. I spray my feet with anti-perspirant. Works like a charm.

I used to get wet feet also. I've had a pair of 32 snowboard boots for 3 or 4 seasons. The last two with KLIM socks have been so nice and dry. It wasnt the boots.:face-icon-small-win

I wear solomon merino wool socks and the ugly green insulated rubber boots with felt packs. No they're not breathable, but I don't care. good socks on and you never feel damp.I can stand in a creek and my feet stay dry. Melting snow is not an issue. 80% of the guys I ride with wear the same thing there really are no negatives that I've seen.

Moreno wool is by far the best sox you can buy. There are several brands out there. I get a great deal on smartwool so that is what I buy. Moreno wool is naturally wicking. Much better than ANY synthetic material on the market when it comes to being odor and sweat resistant.

Well after posting about my nice dry feet here, I came to realize that some slapnuts stole all my gear out of my truck. Not smart enough to take my helmet, transceiver, or my Klim socks though.

Have fun snowboarding in all my gear with your cold wet feet Loser!
