Wet Feet!!!

Any Suggestions for my problem with my feet getting wet when I ride powder.

I could ride trails all day and not get wet feet. When I ride powder my feet get wet. I purchase a new pair of boots thinking that is the problem and then shortly after I get wet feet by the end of the day.

I can't figure out how they get wet. I've tied my laces really tight on my boots thinking snow gets in through the top.

I've tried to move my feet back further on the boards thinking the engine and exhaust can just gets the boots too hot.

I don't even know what to try next.

What kind of socks are you wearing? Sometimes wet feet are from your feet sweating, and socks with merino wool are good about wicking it away.

I'm guessing you work harder when you ride powder, which definitely could cause your feet to sweat.

I have good boots. I went through a lot of brands of boots until I found some to keep my feet warm. Along with that though, is that sometimes even my feet will sweat depending on how warm it is out that day, and how hard I'm riding (lots of back and forth on my running boards on a warmer day will do it for me). Wearing a good sock keeps that moisture away so I don't get cold feet on those occasions, but I may have to dry my boots once we get home (usually I have no idea that my feet have gotten wet from sweating until I take my gear off).

I've wore Altimate, HMK, back to Altimate and now Baffin crossfires.

Socks could be a big factor here but I should not be able to ring them out and create a puddle at the end of the day. I'm just running cotton with sometimes whool over them.

Once your cotton socks get wet, whether its from sweat or snow, the are going to stay wet. If you wear the cotton socks because you want a layer between your skin and wool socks, replace them with a liner. I think you will see a big difference not wearing the cotton socks.

Socks and good boots are a must. If your feet are sweating try some aerosol antiperspirant.(sounds hooky but it works) Spray it on and rub it in and let it dry and then put on socks.
Another tip is wear a different set of shoes and socks for the drive and at the parking area change into your riding gear eliminating any wetness that may occur.

Klim makes some great socks for riding. Thinner ones for when it's not as cold out (or you know you'll be working harder riding in fresh powder), and thicker for when you need the extra. I'd definitely stay away from cotton.

^^^x2 what dragon 900 said, I also have klim boots and socks and never get wet feet. I also sweat really bad and still have dry feet with klim.

get away from anything cotton next to your skin. use a liner sock if you need a lighter sock like you are used to, then add a med or heavyweight sock depending on warmth needed for the days riding. RU outside chinook socks are great, and do not itch. make sure to dry your boots/bootliners EVERY night after riding, so they are FULLY dry. this will help ALOT!

Like the other's said above, NO COTTON, not just socks but anywhere on your body. I wear two layers of socks, thin lycra type material first then poly-wool blend second. Anti persperant sounds funny but a great idea.

Cabelas Ultimax medium weight socks in HMK Pro Boa's has been the ticket for me. You need to pull the sweat away to keep your feet dry and warm. A rule to remember in winter survival clothing is "Cotton Kills".

tried my new HMK Boa system with HMK socks, no wet toes or sweaty feeling 50 miles later. i am a foot sweat factory...ymmv

x2 for me. I had a pair of Fox racing knee high anti sweat and slip socks and thought I could never find another pair as good then I bought the cabelas and had same great luck. Key is the socks. A good one will never slide and bunch to.

HMK socks are great, I am thinking of buying some just to wear for work during the winter. I tried the Klim socks, didn't like them. My feet were always cold until tried HMK socks. HMK for the win.

Switch to wool socks. If still damp add some foot powder (this will soak up some of the dampness). If you're still sweating too much, try a slightly less insulated boot.

ive been in the same delima. I was looking at the klim arctic gtx anyone try these. My problem is like what happened last week -10 wednesday awesome ride froze toes. Great ride friday +37 sweaty feet. Will the arctic be way to much thanks

Klim boots and socks for me too, after two years my boots did start to leak, sent them in and a week later I received a new pair. When I take my boots off my socks feel like they just came out of the dryer.
