well one rider tells his side of the story BC

If I were buried & my chance of survival was nonexistant, I would NEVER, EVER want someone else to risk themselves by trying to dig without equipment. I would want survivors to ensure their own safety.
In fact I will go so far as to say "Get my carcass out in the spring when it's absolutely safe".

If you hear a slide comming and have been trying to get a guy dug out for who knows how long, making little progress you would be a fool to stand around and let it take you out with them. I highly doubt ANYONE would stand there and go down with their buddy regardless of what you say here. I don't see any honor in that. Especially if you have family and kids that love you. There is no honor in getting burried and dying when you can get away and have NO possible chance of saving another. What about their wifes and kids? Who is going to take care of them? And if his buddy who was buried was thinking logically at the time and not emotionaly he would of told them to run.

Watching that video makes me want to give that guy a big hug:brokenheart:

My problem has nothing to do with him getting out of the way of that slide to save himself. I would have done the same thing and I will appologize for coming across angry , but I just could not leave without knowing I did all I could.

If I was picking up one more bud on the peips. I would be digging. I'd rather go back to his wife and kids and say to them, we tried.

I know these guys went through some serious pain here and will be living with this the rest of their lives. I dont wish any thing bad on them what soever. They are lucky to be alive.

I just think you guys do not give another life enough credit. Hell I would die for my country and many have. Why wouldnt you do all you could for a friend in this situation if you may of had a chance.

I have been keeping my comments to myself about this tragedy up to this point, but I have to speak up now................YOU WERE NOT THERE SO PLEASE STFU!!!!!!

I am sure shock or common sense had alot to do with thier decision.

you are quite the "HINDSIGHT HEROE".
your comments totally disrespect the "heroes" who survived this tragedy and those who were lost!!!!!!!!

How do you propose that they dig a guy out of avy compacted snow that is 9 feet down with no gloves and no shovels? You have got to be kidding yourself if you think there is any chance to do that.

You can't dig if your buried.....self preservation must always be the main priority so you are alive to try to save others. Very sad situation. :brokenheart:

tough deal

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

you will never know how it is unless you are there

i hope the survivors find peace

been firsthand on two deaths

somethings you never forget.....ever

don't think that anyone that wasn't there should be doing any second guessing

the ones that were there will be second guessing their actions the rest of their lives

the rest of the armchair avy ..life drama experts on here should STFU

jmo

after reading some of the comments its starting to piss a person off. even watching the interview on youtube and people comments just make ya want to kick somebody a$$. Whats done has been done and it cant be changed. the only thing that you can do is respect what their choice was and leave it at that

pray for a fast recovery from all of this

hell I almost started crying telling my father-in-law about the interview today.....still not sure if I should show the wife.
