Welcome to Valemount B.C ?!?

Pull over here sir so we can waste your time for approx 2 hrs while we do a complete inspection of your rig, personal history and your trailer inventory. No sir I'm not a RCMP but that fellow over there is. Oh and did I mention we are TARGETING SNOWMOBILERS because we believe they are a hazard to life in Valemount. Here is you fine for showing up and spending your hard earned Alberta cash in our pitifully run district.
This was our welcome this morning. I have been sledding here in Valemount since 2000 and this is the first time I have run into this. First the closures of the riding areas, the gouging by retailers, now the raping by the local DOGCATCHERS (rcmp). This community will suffer a disgustingly painful death where they ask the government for assistance (WELFARE) and wonder why no one wants to come here.
I forgot why I stopped riding in Valemount and now I will never forget. Thanks for the reminder here I come REVY !

And Revy welcomes you ! hopefully more sledders means less skiers.... we are really trying to outweigh the toque/dog ratio here.

Huh, funny you mention this. I got checked out today on my way to go riding around Valemount. DOT checked out my tie downs on the sled deck for all of 30 seconds and sent me on my way, no issues whatsoever and didn't ask me for my life story. Have fun in Revy, theres more people to enjoy the snow with:rolleyes:.

Vale

$109 no covers on foglights, spoke with a lot of other guys on the hill and they all had their own stories different than mine but all the same ending. For a district where they are basically relegated to catering to tourism , they really need to get their head out of their a zz's. Because for me to spend a couple of extra hours in my truck driving to Revy is not an issue. The hills are no bigger, the snow is definably less and their grooming program is definitely a joke. We'll see you in Revy Veed, gonna need to show a few turbos what's what !

That is stupid. Was the DOTs with the fuzz as well? I thought that recreational hauling was exempt from all that crap. If a downturn in Alberta is coming( which I doubt), they won't have ANYONE to hassle. You should transfer this thread to the Western Canada riding section.:beer;

I feel your pain, nobody likes to get hassled:mad:, but during these checks a few stolen sleds where recovered as well...might have a different thought if your sled was lost/found...no problem here about having the fuzz patrol in the lots... anything to help keep a thief away is good in my eye, my .02 :beer;

If you look anything at all like the wildeyed freak in your avatar it's no f@#kin wonder they gave you the full on cavity search,:D. I'm with you bobog, if this helps recover somebodies stolen sled then great. I really don't see the need to hold up a guy for 2 hours though, unless they're sporting hilclmr's avatar eyes. Hilclmr, we don't cater to Albertan's. We would prefer it if you guys didn't come over here and track up our pow;):D.

Cheers;
Shane

Just a rant of mine guy's, I'm not unlike anyone else in that when I'm on vacation I don't like being hassled. But with comments like "We are targeting Sledders", really c'mon. What really are you doing? What message are you sending out? There was not 1 group that didn't get a fine that we spoke to.

For a province where they are basically relegated to catering to us Albertans due to the pathetic attempts at governing a province, they really need to get their head out of their a zz's. Good luck on Welfare, cause your gonna need it, because Mike Weigle certainly wont help you out. We'll see you in Revy Veed, gonna need to show a few turbos what's what !

dude,
you wonder why you got hassled? I am sure you had the same attitude with the rcmp.

It's the "ALBERTA IS THE BEST MAKE ROOM FOR US ATTITUDE "that locals absolutely hate.

There has been posts asking for help to locate stolen sleds, trailers etc. How do you expect the rcmp to do this...random sampling?

To slam the Valemont locals about the terrain and grooming is a real slap in the face for the VOLUNTEERS that do this for YOUR benefit.

If they were actually concerned with things that matter like safety or recovering stolen sleds that's fine, but no covers on the lights or most of the other fines is just the usual old being harassed for nothing crap.

The thing I find funny is, how many people NEVER get pulled over or have any problems? Sure there are some cops that just want to basicly piss people off but most are fine. It makes me wonder if it was your fault, location Fort Mac makes that even worse. Not saying your one of them, but WAY to many people from Fort Mac need a attitude adjustment badly. They might of been on a power trip, but i'd say more then likely you gave them a attitude and they had every right to hold you up.

RCMP looking hard for stolen sleds

RCMP after stolen sleds? what a joke.
the LAST thing the RCMP are looking for is stolen sleds.

when they hand tickets to sledders at the Brandywine parking lot they don't even run your plate as long as you have one(stolen sled with a plate is OK too, as long as someone paid the fee).

the only thing they care about is writing tickets to secure their jobs.

I wonder if the Mayer of Valmount knows about the welcome the hired goons show his "clients".

We were there on Dec 5th and after finding out that it was impossible to get into allen due to icy trail we went to clemina to find the parking lot absolutly packed. There was nowhere to park so we decided to park on the highway pullout about a km down the road. Big mistake, just got unloaded when B.C highway folk started layin it on me like I was a bed. Long story short I ended up ramping my $80K rig through the snowbank so I could park in the field at the end of the lot. Glad I had the 37's on or it would have been a no-go. The highway people were not rude but were absolutly unwilling to cut any slack. Its there job I guess.

if the RCMP were pulling people over to find stolen sleds, they would be happy to realize that they are hard working tax payers, such as the ones that pay their salaries, not thieves.

instead they keep them for 2 hours, when they know its a good portion of their day gone, and give them a ticket for no cover on fog lights.

Ya, we're really lucky to have such an excellent police force that can tell the difference between those who need policing and those who they're supposed to serve and protect.

Wow take a BC pill..dude. I think if your from Ab the cops see your plate and pick you out of the line up. It's that simple. So here's whay you do next......As soon as you get to BC steal a BC plate from someone else and put it on your truck, then you'll never be bugged again!! Us Albertan's are the meal ticket for many of those suffering a slow painful life in BC. Plain and simple!!!!

Oh I agree totally, I'm gonna sleep so much better at night now knowing that the criminal with the fog lights isn't going to be able to high beam people lol. RCMP..........what a joke
