Weak running boards Pro-Ride.

Hey, if it is your sled and it's happening I believe you should post. The way this started is odd. How about I post something on another site, and you as my friend link that post as the gospel on another site. Soon it's regarded as the truth and no one really knows the facts. For all we know the Swedish guy jumped up and down on the same spot until he was able to break through.

This friend of a friend of a friend crap shouldn't get started here. We all are looking for ideas and answers, not this kind of stuff. If this issue is happening to a few here, and it looks like it is, I suggest you get with your dealer and start the process through them.

I´m not a big fan of "my friend this, my friend that-posts" neither but the topicstarter links to one of Scandinavias largest snowmobilemagazine. Would you have reacted in a different way if it were SnowWest or Snow Tech or whatever I think yes. And the "Swedish guy" as you call him is active in this thread, though. He is also employed at the magazine in question so this is pretty rock solid information. I don´t think "Dear Ralph" would jump up and down on a sled till he wrecked it just so he had something to write. I might be a bit off topic, sorry.

We now have 3 confirmed cases of broken boards in sweden.. No its not a big issue yet, but the interesting thing is how Polaris is dealing with this issue in sweden.. No warranty on runningboards!???

Yeah, kind of like they told me I was the ONLY one to have problems with my motor mount, and injector, and broken primary. Yet I have seen all 3 of these issues rise up on the forums. I guess that is just the world of big business. I noticed my right side running board support is bent, and I really don't remember hitting anything very hard. Not to say it didn't happen though.

just noticed my right side running board bent aswell, then followed it to the two bolts up near your right pinky toe, cast bracket sheared thru, never hit anything aswell, dealer ordered part and told me to send pics, will put them up once i take them, clear case of warranty to me but i guess i'll find out.

Two right, one left running board support bent to hell so far. Left-side, front drop-out sheared off too.

I'm coming off Doo's for the past coupla' years and thought those boards were garbage. Lemme tell ya- these are worse. They look strong, but unh-huh.

This is not an isolated case. We have a number of Poo converts this year in my neckka the woods and everyone's having problems.

If they are cast running board supports up front they will fail, Sooner or later! When they stamped out the running boards they left stress risers in the stamped edges that are vertical. This will also fail! Anytime you have narrow area like 1" wide by 3.5 to 4.0" long it will bend and fatigue since it is aluminum! Especially with vertical stress risers from the stamping! The non toothed edge should have a bent up or down edge also for strength. Oh well time will tell! The guy's that stand up and ride the majority of the time will experience this quicker. Just move your feet to the outer edge or back and forth lengthwise to distribute the loads and not fatigue one area mainly.

Did u get waranty?

No warranty- "rider-caused." My dealer's pretty good, too. But seeing as how the footbrace supports are on backorder until 3/5, I'd say this is an issue Polaris should cover.

Oh well, strapping and braided wire until then.

I like the idea of installing Better Boards. But, what will happen if my stock boards will start fall apart when using Better Boards?

Some pictures of the boards in the first post:

my bords are worse than that and i also broke the cast aluminum part that connects the running bords to the bluck head. polairs is covering it.... now i found a crack in my chainecase. It is the cast aluminum part that mounts it to the chassis behind the can. I have hit no trees rocks or stumps. Only bumped into a sled and barly bent an upper a-arm.

No warranty in sweden on this yet.

so this just happened riding down the trail??? really, come on lets get real! i'm 200 pounds in my birthday suit and have ridden the heck out of my pro with no problems. i also don't jump or huck my sled of cornices, i do however ride with my feet on the rails and not standing on the boards themselves. maybe this might be part of the cause?

maybe try sucking up some of those landings/bumps with your legs instead of landing/riding straight legged, abuse yourself a little instead of the sled. or if your a 300 pound guy maybe figure they're gonna need a little extra help from the start. SNOW ELIMINATORS would be a must if i were a jumper or larger fellow, go figure...

IMO any sled's boards should be able to handle mogul bashing and mild jumping, without fracturing. I own a Pro and if/when my boards start to do that I will not be pleased.

My floor boards were bending in the center of the cross ribs. This bending did cause one rib to develop a crack. I do not jump sled (old guy) only ride trails to get to snow around 220 with gear. I also had trouble with snow build up and have installed JT sports inserts. Had about 800 mile when I found the crack. If you are bending ribs and or are have trouble with snow recommend inserts of some type.

my boards where cracked and split on both sides after 800 miles. My dealer contacted polaris about this and they played dumb. So i got fed up with waiting and installed a set of betterboards. I now have 2000 miles on my pro and they are holding up great. Only thing I need to do is cut out some more of the stock boards on the front hole. Left the cleat and now have a hard time getting my foot out.

Im 150 pounds plus riding gear and slightly pushed the boards on my dragon as well as the pro. My new pro will get BB installed before it ever hits the snow. Recommended for all whether your a jumper or not, the stockers suck for snow build up and the BB are the real ticket for durability as well as snow cleanout.
