personally, I think they already do much worse to our troops, so to me it's a moot point.

You gotta be kidding yourself if you think that these terrorsits treat our tropps well when they are captured. Beatings, drills,disfiguring, beheadings and other mideval methods of torture are employed by these 3rd world contries and terrorists who were never present at the Geneva Accords. Waterboarding is the least of what they are doing. If we need to live up to what was signed in Geneva fine. Turn these thugs over to a country that never signed or have a liason interrogator from say Pakistan but the boot to them. You won't hear anyone whining inhumane blah blah blah then.

for those of you who didn't seem to understand my post: I agree with you. That's what the last sentence in my post says.

I think every suspect should be waterboarded...we'd get to learn about all their dirty indescretions and everything else along the way, pluse we might get some useful information out of them.

What my post was meant to bring out was thought about why some people are opposed to waterboarding. I work in an office filled with liberals and argue daily about this stuff...so I know which points bring out the fire (usually it's me getting fired up and doing the yelling). But, when I can on here, I will post the opposite point of view just to make others think for a second...ya gotta know where the enemy stands or you'll never defeat them.

Screwing with somone's mind, which is what my impression of waterboarding is, doesn't put them in any danger of dying, but it'll sure make them think they're about to die.

In which case, if that yields useful information to us, why is this wrong? It emotionally scarred them? Oh wah.

The problem with that is people WILL eventually admit to stuff that they did not do, or just tell you exactly what you WANT to be told.

Torture really doesn't get much more information out, and much of it is false.

False information is just as deadly for our troops as no information.

Yes, what i am saying is they make a big deal out of waterboarding, yet those same people say nothing about tazers. If we as a society are saying it's ok to tazer people who don't comply with police, then we sure as **** should be able to use other means to get info out of ragheads. When I started this thread I reminded people that they are holding our kidnapped troops and contractors, somewhere. Yesterday it was released that five fingers from kidnapped contractors were mailed to us to prove that they still had them alive and the torture continues on them.
Some are in Iran and some are in Syria and we should torture each and every captured enemy untill we get the info we need to rescue them. Many of them know where they went. We have to find them all.

A note to those that want to whine about the Geneva convention rules being violated: The terrorist types that we are talking about are not consignors to the Geneva convention and do not follow any rules associated with said convention. The Geneva convention rules will be honored when these people become signors and follow the rules themselves. they can start by inviting the Red Cross in to show that the five men that are now misiing fingers are alive and being well cared for inspite of their injuries.

Didn't Bush recently veto the anti-waterboarding thing?? If he did, good for him!! It's a friggin war, not some reality show. People die, they want to kill us! What are we (our military) supposed to do, tickle their feet with a feather while they get to chop off our heads with a sword? I just did some reading on waterboarding and i find it hard to believe anyone would consider this an inhumane "torture". It does no permanent damage, just a psychological interrogation technique. Burning alive, spraying with acid, putting a glass rod up your peter and shattering it.....now those are tortures. And how about the treatment in prisons? Having some chick walk a prisoner around like a dog on a leash isn't torture either, heck...there are people that pay alot of money to have women do thet to them!!
