Hey all,

so im really thinking about doing some water skipping with the old xc this weekend. got invited to the event from a friend, have only crossed small streams and stuff like that, nothign to crazy.

this is supposed to be done in a field that is at most 3 feet deep.

so my question is, what are the do's and dont's of water skipping?? anythign i need to do to prepare the sled for this? what do i do if the sled goes down?

any info and advice is appriciated. even some pics of your past experiences from doing this.

thanks, xc_rider08

Don't Let off!!.

Take Seat off..

Put on small gas tank..

Bring extra spark plugs.. and gas..

Tie a rope to back of rear bumper with something that Floats..!!

If it sinks.. Get it out.. and start it as fast as u can.. Run it on a track stand.. Let cool.. and go again!! and again!!

With it only being 3 feet sinking out of sight is not a issue . You need to put tape over any holes that leed into the engine compartment or your belt will slip and down you go.XC what? Ported tracks will run but not very good and the less power you have the less good you run.I run with out a hood but i'm always in the front so no problems for me but you may consider taping the holes in the hood on that side as well.

its a 99 xc 600 with a 141x 2" challenger track. dynoport exhaust, vforce 3, billet head, geared down

... and if you do submerge it, after it's out of the water pull the plugs, put the sled on its side and pull it over until no more water is coming out. Good luck

Actually if you just pull the pipe and dump it out then pull the 2 8mm plugs on the bottom of the case all the water will be drained out and save you a bunch of pulling on the rope.
