Man I wish I would have got up early on gone up there (I was a little under the weather :beer;:beer;:beer;). It would have been amazing. but Im not sure I could have handled they traffic coming down off the mountain....

powww wowww...
do they charge on the weekdays?

so we can pay for them to heat their hut and have 2 guys sitting up there watching traffic???

no grooming, no signage, but we get charged for what? parking? in a public lot/road... oh yeah, and our snowmo registration pays for the grooming and signage already... so yeah, whats the fee for again??

if they were taking billy clubs to the tards highmarking in the dirt n shrubs in the parking lot, i'd completely support it...but really, what are they doing for the 6$ x 100s per day? be awesome if they plowed the lot/road/turn around so every truck wasn't getting stuck in the turn around...or doing anything remotely positive.

Yep still charging
But hut is unmanned and lot not plowed....
But snow on north faces and trees was awesome
South faces 12" down to 1" in places

Nice... One or two more storms and I may venture out and make sure my heavy 4 stroke is still smoke free. :D

LMFAO Greg, you need to be on the ski doo 600 E-Tec if you want the cleanest emissions.

are "we" even allowed in the warming hut?

I stopped there once, and it wasn't a POSATIVE experience, making fun of your sp?
might have to check it out Wed, after this next wave.

LMFAO, you need to be on the ski doo 600 E-Tec if you want to continue play that biggest greeny card. You'll have a helluva lot more fun too:D

No way Bushy, the Yammies are it! There so good they made Jim give up the sport after just one season on the Nytro:eek::face-icon-small-hap. Sorry, I couldn't resist. Are you on a Nytro Greg?

Ouch! to each their own. In the short spaces (under 1000') I generally ride at full throttle i'm not too worried about anything showing up ahead of me or next to me.....except another NA two smoke beast:D

Yep

Nope, the hut isn't manned on weekdays.

It'd be awesome if they plowed the lot/road/turn around so every truck wasn't getting stuck in the turn around...or doing anything remotely posative.

I saw two trucks get stuck just trying to turn around by the hut today...the turnaround hasn't been plowed yet.

The Vail Pass fee was tolerable when it was two bucks, but this has gotten out of hand. I had one of the FS guys come running after me because I parked before I paid on Saturday. You want me to pay first, put the hut on the driver's side of the road...This is why I don't ride VP once there is snow a little lower down the valley.

Here is an interesting read from a backcountry skiier (It's the BSA that caused this fee for use crap at VP), it seems he's not any happier about the situation than we are.

Snow tho

Now that I've finished ranting about the damn fee, the snow was deep and totally bottomless in spots, made the wide running boards on the Nytro really noticeable. The little scrubby bushes that are four feet or so beneath the fluff don't provide much in the way of traction.

It'll be money once what's there compacts a bit and after another storm or two.

The trail is not broken from the Camp Hale side yet so I'd stick to the Vail Pass lot or park in Red Cliff, access is open from there. Plus you can get a beer and fish tacos at Mango's.

:cool::beer;

If the huts not manned on weekdays...who or why would I pay?
There is a "self pay" envelope with a sticker and wicket and a convenient slot to drop your money into on the front side of the hut.

At the other trailheads (Red Cliff & Camp Hale), there is a weird metal tube with a slot in it, that is where you deposit your money.

I always pay just because in the event something happens in the backcountry, I'm sure that they would ding me for not paying if I needed help...even though the county search and rescue team would be the ones coming after me.

just got back they got another 8 inches last night, WOW better then yesterday.Went back into lime creek not bad i'll be up there tomarrow :D:D
