Vail Pass conditions

I am interested in this as well. I too am tying to make a trip out there this weekend.

I also need help finding a trail system in Vail...been there once but can't remember how to get there. I remember going into Vail, exiting off to the right (north) of the I-70, taking a road that wound back a bit, parked and then hopped on a trail system. I think there was also a sled rental company set-up near the beginning of the trail as well.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

That sounds like red and white where you were at not vail pass. Vail pass is at top of the pass a couple miles past copper mountain. You exit were the restrooms are and turn to the right to park as soon as you go over the bridge.

Red and white is what he is talking about. I remember how to get there . I dont remember the road names.

Not enough to ride from red and white. A friend texted me a pic of the trail head and its bare.

We need more snow. I wouldn't be riding up at Red and White at all. Road is bare down low. One could probably go on the roads up on Vail pass (boring) and waste of gas. Head south.

Red and White does not have enough snow from the parking lot. The logging company that was operating all summer had a permit up to December 1st. So the roads were kept open for logging.

Vail Pass has been terrible. I wish I could say otherwise. One of the worst years I've eve seen up there. It's been cold though so hopefully with a few more storms it will be decent.

Drove over V/P yesterday and stopped in lot to check it out.

Super weak maybe a foot or so.

They have the trail up Wilder Gulch to Ptarmigan Ridge(Sled assisted Skiing or to Camp Hale) blocked off in 3 places just to make sure you get it.

Road ride towards Redcliffe may be possible but with the price of trailing arms/A arms I'd wait or try somewhere else.
