Update on the Reno Film Festival

Well, being one of the ONLY people to hear it straight from the horses mouth on both sides.......I would say I have better insight then most. Who else on here can say that? I was simply stating that bashing someone's character was out of line here....that's all. As for the term "hate"......well, some of the names thrown around on here would elude to that. And lastly, as for the supposedly "pride lost in Team Summit"; this seems to be something that I have been hearing about for sometime. If there are specific individuals, outside what is going on here with Aiello and Schauer, please let me know EXACTLY who on Team Summit you are referring too, and what they did to gain this lose of pride. Otherwise, looks like this thing is going to be all over soon and I look forward to things getting back to normal.

AO, I do not see any ripping going on here that was not asked for. Jlowe wanted the truth out, well lets get ALL the truth out, there is more involved here than just the donations.
Jlowe, I want to believe that this was all just a huge mistake, but the facts all lead one to think otherwise, it just seems that there are too many coincidences all pointing in one direction. I am sure I do not have the whole story, but i got the gist of it. I don't know there is any "Hate" out there like you said, I think the term "dissapointment" would be more accurate. Getting this all cleared up will definately be a step in the right direction towards restoring the pride we all had in Team Summit before this black eye happened.

i hear ya bill. i've said my peace. those who know me well know that i would never stand up in front of a giant room full of people with the intent on ripping them off. those who are close to me know the real story. i can't pound it into your head and quite frankly...i don't blame anyone for having a crappy feeling about this...it looks bad and i'm embarrased by it. this is like the world's biggest goat-fu&K and ultimately i'm responsible...regardless of the circumstances. i'll have an update on payments later this week for everyone.

billyjack and burt were a lot more fun last summer. :)

I am pretty tuned in to the happenings of what went on in Reno. I am very familiar as to what it took, to put the show together, and the obligations that were in place, before, during, and after.

I see this thread start out with some personal slams against folks who have been asking for help, with questions that need to be asked! (definitely, their moral obligation!)

I think I am just one in a number of people who donated heavily to this cause and want an update of the progress of it's dispursement. (I had originally assumed it was immediate.)

I also assumed that the bills owed, would be a number one priority, as sponsors names were at stake. I too, am dissapointed that a payment program had to be put in place 9 months after the fact. This does not show me, good stewardship of this money.

There is no doubt that both Jeffs have done wonderful, great, amazing, awesome things for the sport. I don't believe that is in question at this time.

I believe the question on the table is follow-through. Are the funds available, and can they be sent on to their advertised destinations? If not grab your nut sack (hard!), buckle down, and make it happen, now!

It's a shame that things like this are going on.all obligations should have been taken care of promptly after the event, instead a bunch of crud being spread all over. Something like this happened in the last year maybe a little longer ago. It was brought up on snowest as well. any time people are donating money to a cause thats where it should go no if ands or buts, and in a very timely fassion. it' sounds as though this did not. i'm not knocking any one here just saying this deal and the other deal i mentioned were handled very poorly no matter how good a guy he is. It's hard to beleive that Blair morgan has a foundation that can not be reached? But may be it's no longer out there. does any one know.. This was stated in the last deal as well, how is any one susposed to give to a cause when stuff like this is going on? i hope this works out the way it was intended, but no matter what took place ,the fact is it was not taken care of in a timely manner or with out some one pushing to make sure it would happen. nor with out people having to post it here for all to see.

Hardass and Tony...as I've said before, I wish I would have handled this better/different. For the record...I didn't get an invoice from the GSR until May after originally requesting one back in December. Once it finally came in, it fell through the cracks as my shooting schedule was pretty intense. For the record, we ended up not getting money from 1 of the 3 sponsors that agreed to help cover the operational costs of the event that night. No need to go into who that is. I'm paying it now.

I had a very good talk this morning with Fred Wyile, President of the CNSA, who understands the chain of events and personal BS that led to the delay in their payment. We are submitting the $1500 to him directly this week to use as they see fit. This $1500 is earmarked to do a graphics wrap on the safety trailer. As a show of good faith and apology for the delay, I've offered to pay for the graphics wrap myself...in addition to the $1500 all of you donated.

As for Blair Morgan...I sent another email today and will let you know when I hear back. I mentioned the trouble I've been having with contacting the BMRT to Fred Wylie and he indicated that other people he works with have had trouble contacting their team. They've either restructured or closed down their foundation.

I believe there's someone there that can help us...we just need to get the line in.

And last but not least...I had a very good call with Jeff Schauer today and apologized to him personally for the treatment he endured as this mess played out. As I've said before, I bear full responsibility for the mix-up and I'm doing my best to take care of it now. Jeff did nothing to deserve the shoulders that were turned on him and I hope he will return to being an important part of Team Summit (and a friend to me.)

Jeff

Just one little note from me.

I think publicly and privately apologizes are do to King.

It will help me with this whole mess.

Looks like it is finally getting worked out. :beer;

Edit
You still see TeamSummit in my signature

uuuuhhhh.... no film festival does this mean Oberti is going have a BBQ this year at his place ??? hint hint!!!! sled drags, freestyle ramps, razor burn outs, oh this is going to be good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think another BBQ at my place this summer is EXACTLY what we all need. I will post details late, but plan on it:)

Thanks to all involved in making this nightmare go away. The call that Jeff made this morning was both admirable and earnest. I believe that Jeff has taken complete ownership of the situation both personally and professionally. My only desire moving forward is that the others that were indirectly involved know that my only position was to see all obligations met as discussed. There were alot of painful comments made and my hope is that we give this a chance and all tear up the freshest pow in the sierras then relish the times in the summer..... way too many cool opportunities and friendships were on the line to waste away. My sincerest thanks to Jeff for taking the time to call me today and accept full ownership. Looking forward to seeing ALL on the hill.......

WE love this sport

Glad you two men worked this out, not always so easy. You are both stand up people. Hope you can ride together this winter or get together on the water this summer. When is the vid comming out? BBQ at AO:D

**update**

looks like i found a new organization started by Blair Morgan which funnels money to the Canadian/American Spinal Research Organization.

its called Operation Inspiration 7c. I've sent an email to their facebook page this morning to make contact. this might explain why no one at BMRT has responded yet. i'll keep you all posted.

Hate to say it but I have seen this hapen so many times in the past. I had the pleasure of meeting King two years ago and now consider him a good friend and ambassador to the sport. I briefly met Jlowe at the Reno film festival but have never had a chance to ride with him. He seemed like a great guy and has definately done a tremendous amount for this sport. Both considered ambassadors of the sport, who are extreamly busy in their personnel and professional lives, who are victims of rumors and circumstances that were most likely out of their control. It is great to see that communication, not over this forum, but personal contact via telephone has prevailed and hopefully this community will move on. I like many donated $$ at the film festival with the understanding of where it would go and am pleased that it is finally happening. Yes, it did take some time but we are all human which gives us the unpleasant ability to make mistakes which usually get people pissed off. It happened and I for one really hope these two can mend their friendship and keep working togeather to make and produce the films that we all love to watch as well as just getting this community togeather to enjoy friendship and have a kick-as* good time. If it werent for the Reno Film Festival, which these too put togeather, I would still be looking for guys to ride with on the weekend who can climb up on the hill and help me get unstuck. So thanks to bith Jeffs and I look forward to seeing you on the hill. Just my 2 cents.

Moving in the right direction!!

I apologize for responding so late Monday I was recovering from a great fathers day at the lake on my new wave runner…….I forgot I was not in my 20’s any more and took me until 12:00 noon Monday to straighten my back enough to sit in front of the puter…..

Well when I read the posts I decided to “do something positive for the sport” (before Anthony comes over with Billy Jack and kicks my a__) so I goggled and then sent out 4 e-mails trying to find a contact for Blair Morgan. Tuesday morning I got a reply with contact information. I called Jeff A. to take him up on his offer to discuss things and get his side of the story and to give the Blair Morgan information to him. I left a message to call me back. Jeff returned my call within 10 minutes. We had a good conversation. Jeff went over all three topics in question in detail and although he has already admitted yesterday on his post “I bear full responsibility for the mix-up and I'm doing my best to take care of it now. Jeff did nothing to deserve the shoulders that were turned on him and I hope he will return to being an important part of Team Summit (and a friend to me.)” there was more information to each of the three issues in question that only a hand full of people know about that would be inappropriate to launder in a open forum.

Jeff A. told me the most important thing right now above team summit and everything else is to mend relationships with everyone especially Jeff S. Jeff A. had nothing but good things to say about Jeff S. and after the mending/healing process has run its course he hopes Jeff S. will be back with Team Summit. I told Jeff I admired him for taking ownership of this and making things right and keeping us posted. I think that at this point that is all you can ask of the man.

Later in the day I called Jeff S. and told him I had a good conversation with Jeff A. today and glossed over the conversation with him. Jeff felt relieved as did Jeff A with their friendship on the mend and everyone again sharing the vision of sledding together again. As Jeff said is his post yesterday, “The call that Jeff made this morning was both admirable and earnest.” I will agree with Jeff S. I also feel Jeff A. was admirable and Ernst in our conversation today.

I want to thank the elders (Tony & John) for their comments as they showed us how to tactfully take a stand but not get personal.

With that being said lets all put this to rest and support both Jeff’s working together in the future to benefit the sport of sledding that we all love so much.

So in true sledder edict …..get over it and let’s go drink some beer!!!!!

Respectfully submitted

SO?, ummmmm...... is it too early to ask if there will be another film festival?!:) I was SEVERELY BUMMED when I couldnt make last years (even seeing now the downfalls of the event). But this year, I saved some VACATION just for the event! All i can add is EVERYONE on this forum rocks! Really have never met any of you, but good people... good morales... good character! (hey, I thought this is why the "ROMPER ROOM" was created! :D)

thanks to all for your understanding and help in resolving this mess. its been great to chat with King again and i also appreciate the phone calls and emails i've been getting from some of you out there.

i think it would be great to do the film festival again and Jeff and I have already started to bat it around a bit. I think enough people with a positive approach to it, applying the lessons learned from this last one, could be a good thing for our sport.

tabasco...thanks again for the call yesterday and i'm on day three now of not receiving word from Operation Inspiration 7c. i think you said you made a direct contact with someone...if you could forward that to me at teamsummit1@yahoo.com, i would appreciate it....or just call.

jeff
