Ultimate Boondocking Skis for M Series Sleds?

I'm starting to make my aftermarket list for my new 2009 M8 or M1000.

What are considered the ultimate boondocking skis for either of these sleds?

Are the new Simmon's Gen II the best?

Maybe Slydogs?

You tell me, please share your wisdom.

Thanks

Frostbite

I had Slydogs on my M7 - did not like them all that well because they didn't seem to turn all that well on loose snow on the trails. Off trail they were great. I tranfered them over to my 09 M8 and love them both on and off trail. I think the setup I had on my M7 didn't give them enough bite on the trails.

Floatation is awesome and they carve well. Plus they are a great company to deal with - they answer their phones and stand behind their products.

Thanks, for the info.

One of the skis I forgot to ask about are the Powder Pros.

the slydogs float like no other ski i've used (haven't used the gen2 simmons 'clown shoes' yet)... when carving and stuff they work well and they float up nicely, but as mentioned above, they don't steer well at all when you're on the trails and in sloppy snow, no bite at all... for all-around the powder pros are great... believe it or not, I actually found the USI triple threats to be a good all-around ski as well but they don't float as well as the p-pros... and its hard to ignore the gen1 simmons in the pow as well...

if all i rode ~ever~ was dry bottomless pow, I'd get the slydogs again, otherwise, powder pros or simmons

in the deep i love my SLP Powder Pros. They are bit aggressive on the trail though.

USI triple threat skis, this skis has two insert fins that come in three sizes, so its a variable ski.....and the best IMO, ive had most of the rest

i had them as well, they don't float quite as well as some of the others, but those fins REALLY work when you knock the sled over on its ear to carve a turn... its where they really shine when cutting back and forth... and the build quality on them is as good as the simmons (i think the saddles are better than simmons)... the one real gripe I have with the powder pros is how noisy they are when you hit stuff, they feel like they are built cheap, though they work... the USI's don't give that feeling at all, high quality stuff

Interesting...............

I went through the same skis on my RX-1M.

In the end the Yamaha powder skis (copy of the Powder Pros) proved to work the best in the widest range of conditions.

It sounds like you guys are seeing the same thing on the M sleds?

Huh........... I happen to have any extra set of Yammy Powder Skis in the shop, I wonder if they'd fit?

Hi I'm Frostbite, formerly Powder blue I was gonna change my name to powder pink but I thought that might be to obvious with me coming out of the closet and all. I don't know boys.... I love my yamaha but if they dont smarten up I think i'm gonna punish them and by an m sled but I just wish they would come in pink. What do you guys think? Can you buy tassels that come off the handle bars for the m's? Gee bo'ys I used to be good at making decisions but since my sex change I haveing all sorts of decision problems. I hope all you boys can help me make up my ,mind for me about what sled to buy, what kind of cover to get, what kind of ski's i should put on and clutching and pipes and track and um i don't know maybe what size track you know???
Yours truely frosty:rolleyes: bampedy bamp bamp bumpedy bump bump look at frosty go boys!!

Thanks guys!

Good info on the skis.

Trueblood WTF?

This was an adult conversation until you showed up!

I'll overlook your comments this time. Don't let it happen again!

I'd suggest you stick with video games and your Hannah Montana videos.

Gen II's takes a few rides to get used to them and some suspension adjustments far different than other skis, but I Love em. kept me out of many tree wells my friends wound up in. When you put the sled on its side it flat out turns.

I have used Powder pros now for many years and they are very good alround skies, but doesent carve as vell as the stock M skis.It boils down to what you like.
