Uintahs April 24th

For those of you who didn't get to get out today....still lots of snow up high. Mirror lake highway is plowed about 5 miles from the top. Couldn't ask for better weather. Unfortunatley, this was probably my last ride of the season. Just hope to be back in Utah next winter.

Those are some great shots. I thought it was a Storm Trooper dropping in the first pic. hahaha

What side did you drive up? Sounds like the gates are open eh?

We drove up from Kamas....the gates are open and I was surprised how far they'd already plowed. Made it nice though...you pretty much started riding where the deeper snow was.

Storm Trooper....I'd never thought of that...but I do like MTB02's all white look...

Great pics!! Amazed at how much snow is still up there!
Might have to head up on monday morning!:face-icon-small-hap
Glad to see you survived the "land mine"!

Really nice shots! This time of year can actually be really, really fun. Maybe I should make the effort to get out one more time.:face-icon-small-win

They normally don't start plowing the highway this early....makes me wonder whats going on?

Yeah, I wonder too. It's not like there was to much snow this year or this time of year. Two weekends ago when we took the kids down the hwy we noticed the Ranger Station plowed completely. Hummm???

I love when pictures get posted from the other side that we don't ride regularly. It's beautiful over there. I love all the rock cliffs. It sure makes great picture. :hippie:

Will they shut it down to sleds or will they allow us to park further up the road?

You would be able to park on the road where they stop plowing. If they plow it all the way, you could park in a turn out. As long as there is enough snow to cover the ground, you'd be good to go. I've ridden the Uintahs on the 4th of July before.

spaeking of mirror lake... what's the riding like in Murdock Basin? is there anything out that way?

Murdock Basin has a lot of cliffs, both big and small. You could spend all day in there. We spent some time in there on Saturday...dropped in from hwy 150 just before the summit...didn't see another sled. If you like trees mixed with relatively short steep climbs between cliffs, you'd like it in there....

highline, thanks for the info. saw your pics - looked like a great day.
which mountain is in the background of DSC01061?
