Our problems with our two stock Pro RMK's now in their second year.:clock:
Both sleds leaked oil between the Y-pipe and the exhaust pipe. Permatex Ultra gold fixed that.
One leaky gas cap.
One exhaust temp sensor failed.
One belt.

I think the best part is that you have under 2000 miles on your sleds and you are happy nothing has gone wrong.:face-icon-small-con

Gotta admit, the sled world seems to have us convinced that a few thousand miles is some type of longevity benchmark. Probably a testament to how fun it is to ride them!:face-icon-small-coo
 
2500 miles on mine '11...

exhaust temp sensor
crankcase bolts backed out at 1600 miles, new case under warranty
leaky oil cap
rod bearing at 2500 miles on Sunday

That's about it. New crank and time for more trouble free miles

And it can take some abuse :D

"new crank but thats about it". It makes me sick how most of the polaris guys on here think a blown motor isn't a big deal. Oh it was covered under warranty so no big deal. What happens when these sleds are out of warranty?!
 
You are so right there most will trade in for a new model and get another warranty. Where does that but the resale value ---right next to the dragon.The first question out of anyone looking at a used pro is how much warranty is left?I will be tearing mine apart this summer and check it over and get rid of those junk pistons.

Like blowing belts every 100 miles or less, or chaincases on your sled?

2500 miles out of a motor is good miles for a guy that rides them really hard. I've had all the brands and ever had a motor last that long. What does that say for all the brands, or me? Who knows, who cares. It's a great sled and has had less trouble than every other new sled I've bought aside from maybe my '01 RMK 800. I'd buy it again knowing the problems I've had...also knowing I've towed out every other brand at least 1 time on this sled and only been towed out 1 time. I wish I would have turned my oiler up in the first 500 miles, maybe I would have gotten more miles out of my rod bearing.

Another "Cat Lurker" Ya, cat has a great motor, for now. Lets talk about the rest of the sled! Broken Jack shafts, Defective clutch sheaves, Blown chaincase bearings, oh and that ever so nifty Adjustable "LOOSE" steering post, Disintegrating rear bogie wheels, Cracked A arm mounting brackets, Cracked rear suspension mounts, just to name a few. Dude, they all have their problems, so stop your hatin!
 
It baffles me, im used to getting 5000-7000 miles out of an engine. The new engine reliability is nothing short of an out and out joke to me. I have a 175 HP engine that is more than 10 year old technology and hasnt been rebilt in 3 years, about 4000 miles. Starts and runs every time. Doesnt burn out pipe temp sensors, doesnt eat a set of pistons every 500 miles, doesnt start having ghost code issues from an exploded belt hitting the ECU, and heres the best part....a sled that cost me $2500 bucks runs better and faster, and handles the same as one that cost almost $10 grand. Go figure.
 
The thing that I find a little weird.... everyone praises Polaris for "listening" to their customers and rips Cat and Doo for not listening and putting on more weight...... But Polaris is not listening either! If they were then they would really look at this motor. It doesn't get the job done, and instead of really fixing it they keep trying to do little tweaks.... new injectors etc.

I love the sled (think it needs to gain a little weight in a few places).... but Polaris isn't listening any better than anyone else. They each have a place that they want to focus and don't care about the other issues.... And now we are starting to praise the motor for 2000 trouble free miles??

I have the same sled! I park mine in my stable, right next to my Unicorn, that my Sasquatch takes care of.:flypig:
 
EPA is killing the motors turn up the oil on these sleds and you will not have motor troubles this goes for all two strokes. When the last time you fouled a plug doesn't happen anymore. I ran a sled 3000 miles on same plugs thought I should change them and ruined the wires getting them off. 2000 miles on a high performance twin is great if you want 5000 miles buy a YAMAHA. I don't ride a pol but snowcheck is in my future for 13 priced some today.

Blame the EPA, not Polaris. Theyre building what we want, and EPA is throwing requirements at them that make any engine less reliable.
