This is my good friend Josh's sled, jskattum606. 05 poo 900 that has been turbo'd for the last year and kept having fueling issues and would puke pistons out the one side. There happen to be some propane parts laying around, so the idea was hatched. Last friday night we put the setup together and got it running in about 5 hours. Today we finished up the propane system, plumbed all the collant lines, set idle right... redid some small stuff etc. We are currently working on tank straps, we are gonna be running aluminum forklift tanks, the ratchet strap was just for testing, althought proved to work very well. first pull it ran good, but was to lean, backfired.. and yeah, the airbox wasnt to happy. welded it up, tuned it in.. away she goes. it runs this clean after about 10 minutes of goofing off with the mixture screws. no boost gauge, think it was around 7# on the wastegate, pulls hard, VERY smooth linear power.

video is coming, youtube is suckin it up right now and It failed after waiting an hour for the upload.. retrying.

I had wanted to try one since I learned about how simple propane setups can be. once I saw that ovs had them holding together, i knew it was game on. josh had the parts, i had the ideas.... now we got it rippin.. its dumb how simple this setup is and how clean it runs already, in the video you can see it better, and hear how crisp the throttle is. cant wait to throw some load at the motor, the 900 was wild before.. now with cleaner fueling, and more boost it should be nuts.

No kidding. Thats what makes this project so fun. Well see how it does this weekend.
So far, Propane runs much smoother at idle as well as all throttle positions and it has a great smooth powerband

lovin the 1250 rpm idle... the thing is so smooth even at an idle where most sleds start to stall out.

this is bad, im way to excited about this thing, youtube needs to get its chit in gear so yall can see/hear it. it just blows me away how well its working this early in the testing stages.

Quality was good for me.

Man you make me what Propane more and more. Especially for the reason that it is tunable with the turn of a screw or two.

I've had this idea in my head for years, but no time. I've had 2 propane powered turbo 350 pickups and my daily driver is a supercharged 8.1 with a propane injector system. I'm just curious what size propane carb your using, and where do you find Al propane tanks. Very cool project.

just a 425 mixer mounted to the front of the mixer as you can see in the video. model e reg... just regular old impco stuff. these parts came from a guy ditching his old 350 chev setup. its done draw throught, where OVS and simmons do blowthrough on there setups. this way is infinately easier.. these mixers are simple and work well, so we left it the way it was designed to be run.

as far as bottles, aluminum forklift tanks. the interwebs. full they weight right around what a full gas tank weighs.

funny you say that... I have ripped the sleds down the alley MANY times.. today was the first noise complaint.. guess the 10 runs and sidepipe are kinda loud. actually its defening.. the cop kinda just laughed, we got like 4 in the yard and one in the garage and tracks all over.

you would be suprised the look you get riding down the sidewalk stradling a propane tank.

Why a draw through? Seems like a bomb. Why not a blow through like you have on your sled? Use the throttle bodys off the 900 and all?

Yep, the whole turbo system is the same as it was before, just with a propane mixer in front of the turbo and a regulator in the cooling system. The fuel rail has just been plugged on both sides and the oiler system has been hooked back up like stock(little richer).

did draw through as its insanely simple... the only reason it blew the airbox up the first time is it was setup WAY to lean, it was the first WOT pull on it.. it is sorta a bomb, but on my sled, i have NEVER had it backfire... and only on the first pull on the 900... so yes, its a decent little explosive mixture, but thats life. with the mixer out front like that, theres no messing with referencing, and getting the pickup right for good transitional fueling, it just works.

Goood to see some pioneers out there playing with all kinds of boost and fueling. How much does the mixers and regulators cost? Does it require a bigger airbox? I have lots of questions... pm me your number skidoo and lets chat..

Thanks Jim
