Turbo prices??

You could dyno your sled on two different dyno's and get completely different numbers. Ralph at Split Second explained dyno calibration to me one time and a good dyno operator can give really impressive numbers. A lot of Ralph's engines would embarass motors that boasted higher hp numbers, ask anyone who has a Split Second or Mad Max motor. I believe Ralph sold that dyno and someone was telling me the other day how disappointed they were with their dyno numbers from the new owner, although I did explain to them how conservative the dyno was calibrated. You need honest comparisons between sleds on the same dyno, on the same day to really mean anything. Getting the power to the ground is also huge in your overall satisfaction and their are many, many variables in clutching, gearing, suspension, tracks etc. All these turbo packages seem to work very well, helps when we have really good motors to put them on. Enjoy your choice, either way, reliable boosted 4 strokes rock :D
I suspect when it all washes out, it will be the same result as always...the Alpine and Impulse kits will be the strongest runners and the rear mount kits will be wondering how they can adjust and tune there sleds to get more power. It would help if the Powderlites kit was reliable, because that would be it's biggest asset. Has anyone even seen a Powderlites T- Nytro run? I am wondering why everyone is saying they are so reliable and there might have been a handful on the snow last year, and definately not more than 12-14 lbs boost.

i ve been thinking the same thing

all the other powderlites suff is reliable I would think this would be the same. I would guess that reliability would be about the same as MCX just powderlites is on the same continent as me:D

Daves kits for his apex is wicked, its a front mount! ha I'm with NM only seen half a dozen on the snow and all of them had alot of questions as to how do I fix this or solve that. Go with alpine in canada or impulse in the US and look back at the rear mount nitro's. JMO (but it happens to be the truth!) LMAO

Doesnt alpines kit put out 240 on pump gas, doesnt sound leaps and bounds over the rest. Yes I know it will spool faster than a Rearmount.

If I were to put my own kit together and try a short header and then a longer header and the longer header produced more power, which one should I use? Perhaps MCX and Powderlites did some testing? A longer, precooled charge tube might also allow for a denser, cooler charge entering the intercooler. We all like to think we have made the best choice and there are several good choices. Food for thought.

you cant go wrong with any kit really, daves been building turbo kits longer then most people have been riding sleds and he spends time and knows his stuff about them, and alpine build some of the fastest sleds going and you wont meet nicer people. mcx price seems to be a bit cheeper from what i understand but i havent seen one mcx sled yet not pop and sputter so the clutching is defanitly out.

You have to ask yourself what you want out of your turbo kit. Let me put it this way...If your kit makes more or equal power than mine, but mine works better on the hill...Throttle response, acceleration, top end speed, reliability, and so on, then which one is better. Like Amped says, put them on the hill and let the sled do the talking. If it's my money, I want the one that works the best, not the one that people percieve to be the most reliable...when really, is it???? The Alpine Nytro kits were Bullet proof last season, and there were lot's of them on the hill making way more than 14 lbs boost. They even come with a seat and 40 ltr tank. HMMMM

If I had to pick between a little more HP at the expense of throttle response I would lean towards better throttle response. Coming off of a MCX rear mount RX1 I wonder how much better the Rear mount Nytro turbo systems are. Are the front mount Nytro headers reliable?

alpine did the R&D on the 4 stroke yamaha's and over the years have learned lots of tricks to make the kits reliable with big power.

You need to see the header that paul (Impluse) sent with my kit ! The head on my nytro will break before the header would IMO.

Take a pic if you have time. Has anyone put a muffler on a tunnel dump? One thing I don't like about most front mounts is the lack of a muffler.

The whole "I gotta fix my header thing" gets pretty old pretty fast. If someone built a front mount where they guaranteed their header including labour that's the kit I would buy.

I agree alot of people are just like you say " they wouldnt have spent their money unless it was the best so it must be the best". I for one have bought and tried alot of different turbos, skids, seats, shocks, tracks, tunnels, chassis, ect Then take it off and sell it and tell the buyer I didnt like it for me and the reason why I didnt like it, and now run what I have tried out and what is the best for me. . Not what I read or seen a dyno sheet on or my friend said or any of that, and I ride with lots of different people on lots of different sleds and kits. They all have there advantage (mite be on the dyno) some people mite buy on price alone, the best deal they can get they buy. Dosent mean they got the best kit out there.

To quote Darko" turbo kits are like escorts, they all have the same basic parts, but some after you paid n had a ride you cant belive you wasted your money on that! and some of them you look forward to riding every chance you can" LMAO!

You might not want to be quoting Darko, if he is jumping ship. You might not be able to keep any credibility LOL
