Turbo Engine Life?

I have come across a good deal on a 08 turbo dragon. It was boosted at about 1500 miles, and now has 2100? I know that reeds and pistons should be replaced after every 800-1000 miles, but how long should the rest of the motor last? Crank, rods, jugs, oil pump, etc? It is a boondockers pump gas kit as well, any information would be greatly appreciated, thanks

I can't say much about the the Dragon Engine but I do have experience with the Cat Engine. The turbo really shouldn't shorten the life of the engine dramatically. The best part of turboing a sled is you are keeping the engine mostly stock. You aren't advancing timing or porting the cylinders. I would say that the engine should last close to the same time a stock one would if you are changing top ends and doing the maintenance that you should be doing. 2100 miles is not a lot on a sled. I put about 1600 miles on one every year, I couldn't afford to ride if I had to get a whole new turbo sled every year. If the bottom end of that engine is normally good to go after 2100 miles, then I'd say you will be fine for awhile.

bottom ends are solid until the melted piston drops garbage down in them. Biggest risk on turbo motors is guys cranking the boost and getting pre det till it burns down. Then they throw new top end on it and claim its fresh. Be sure and ask if hes done the top end and why. You may find a failure in past and you want to be sure it was all pulled down.

I would check the reeds for sure. They are easy to replace and relatively inexpensive. The crank should be good for around 3000 miles on that sled, but the balance will add or take away from that. If he has snapped any belts I would at least check it.
