Guys, grow up. This guy I know well, I grew up with his brother, who also lived with me while we went to college, and have sledded with them. He was a GREAT guy, very well moraled, a great dad and husband. He had two kids... and was sledding with his Mom and Dad, and his Wifes mom and dad, and his wife. They couldnt revive him. If you think he was the kind of guy that was reckless or stupid, you are dead wrong. Truly a very, very nice person. Bad things do happen to good people. I will be attending his funeral. Man, it will suck.

I agree, never knew him well, but we grew up just a few miles away from each other. He went to school with my sister, helped out my family moving cattle, etc. Great guy, and a terrible loss.

It's sad when anyone dies. My heart goes out to the family.

For the record. I only get to ride two or three days a weeks for eight or nine months a year. I'm not going to ride the trails and meadows waiting for all the danger to pass. I understand the danger and take every precaution I can. I ride country I know well, and rely on passed experience and avalanche training as best I can. I know what hills are prone to slide, but am aware all this will not eliminate the danger. I have discussed this at length with my family, and they understand the danger as well.

If for some reason my number gets called please don't call me an idiot. Don't ask what I was thinking, I was thinking about living life to the fullest for as long as it lasts.

I just hung a plague in my shop my daughter gave me for Christmas, it says "Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about having the passion to dance in the rain"

It appears to me what some of you call stupid and irresponsible I call passion for life.

I've had some great rides this year pulling big hill with lots of untracked powder. Most of them on days some of you are sitting at home calling people stupid for being willing to live. I don't want to be alive to be alive, I want to be alive to live. Remember, every man dies, very few live.

Cheers

Black or Gray?

what color body bag you want when those of us who are not as cool pull you out and take you home? also, can you write the note for us to read to your wife and kids? will save us from struggling to come up with the words...

Spur... yup... I used to say pretty much the same thing. Then, I realized... that there is alot of living to do. And, alot of things to experience. Eventually, we all grow up, and realize that the risks we took were stupid. Not worth it. I thought it was, but that was before I really understood how much hurt the people left behind feel. It doesnt matter to the dead. They are dead. But, the families and freinds behind deserve better. This fellow didnt want this, and was a good, good person. Bad things happen to good people sometimes. But.. in the end.. .you are still dead. Dead is a longggg time to the people left behind. One day, you will understand. Till then, good luck. :beer;

my biggist beef r people who dont wear proper safty gear, safty gear helpes the victim as well protects the rescuers. if sombody choses to take chances thats thier own choice but at least wear a beacon so they could b found easily, not like the guys in enderby that put thier own lives in danger to search for 3 hrs in avy terain, for a guy with no beacon. u no guys iv log probably over a 1000 vertical miles in the last 25 yrs of riddin , i love to climb just like the next guy, but this year im gonna have to resist temptation and stick to the creek beds and trees, im even gonna find other things to do, maybe go to mexico and sea doo the ocean lol

condolences to the family and friends
such a tradagy

checked those coordinates on google earth .it would be the mtn on the north to northeast side of the back meadows. havent played around there to much but done some glassing for g bears from the top a few times and seen hood plastic in the rocks so it has a few pretty steep spots on it. kind of gives me a a ghosty feeling having been in some of these places where people are being sent to the other side.

That's because you are invinceable, man. RIGHT?

Fella's, I deleted my post. After reading yours I decided I should not have posted my personal belief on this subject. If you don't want the post on hear please delete yours.

I do not think I am cool, or invincible. I am not immature or irresponsible, or an idiot (for the spineless negative rep poster). I want to live just like the rest of you. I just happen to view life differently. That does not make me any of the above, nor does it make me wrong, but on this subject I will keep my views to myself.

I don't think you should have deleted you post. It wasn't rude or disrespectful to others....it's not inapproriate, just that it's an opinion that that MANY people unfortunately share.

It creates healthy conversation and responses.

Others who might feel the same way as you might learn from these conversations.

I agree, it's called free speech and truthful.

different opinions are what stimulates conversation, or occasionally arguements here. That creates thoughts... If people are THINKING they have a better chance out there. you feel it, you spoke it.. it's all cool. I am happy for any conversation on avys. Almost like "there is no such thing as bad advertising."

I live differently Spur. and i LIVE large. some would say crazy. Always measuring the Risk vs. Reward thing.

I think its WHERE he posted it that is the issue here. I actually kind of agree with what he said.
Start a thread about how crazy you are, and how you like to live on the edge. We've all been there. I have. Its all good.

I agree, I applaud you for being willing to post your ideas...No harm there, just dont be shocked when others disagree, and are equally willing to challenge your ideas.

this would be a better country if we werent so worried about hurting others feelings, and if we welcomed the discussion/debate.
