Tunmbler Ridge Avy-one fatality

i'll try and get some details about this slide, im from tumbler, and have riddin that area for the past 25 yrs. this is the first fatality we've ever had in this area that i know off. i herd it was in the back medows, ifs thats true, thats a pretty elementry ridding area, a place were u would take a wife and kids, i have never seen any avy activity there before. if thats the case guys theres no place safe to ride. i herd the guy was from beaverlodge alb late 20s. i herd a name but i will not release that. in respect to the deceased and faimly

Interestingly terrifying. I read the link and it says the babock mountain hill. I called a uddy of mine and he said that this is the hllclimb hill. I knocked this hill down 3 yrs ago when first got my m7, talk about spooky! Heres a pic of that slide. This is 1 ofthose hills you just leave alone during extreme avy conditions. Prayers and condolences to the family.

That is the hillclimb hill from days gone by, it has slid in the past lots. Sad to hear, AGAIN!

the back meadows are about as flat as it going to get in the mtns.maybe on the north side .but still pretty tame.was thinking about going out there with my son yesterday but decided to go ride the old logging roads out at calazon instead.man this is scaring the sh## out of me .thinking about watching the hockey game next saturday. RIP:

slediot, thats one of the most dangerous areas in the babcock ridding area, that mountian spans over 1000 feet in eleavation, that is where i asumed the slide was or in the super bowl. wen that hill slides it filles in the lower valley till it hits the other ledge. that hill doesnt fall yearly , but can be deadly wen it does. the worst thing about that hill, its on the main trail going through. believe it or not there r still guys out riddin with NO avy gear, and still exposing themselves to the hills. i was out thurs and fri with locals and i asked them about gear and most in the group had none, they looked at me as i was some kind of moron saying, we ait goin in no avy areas. than they proceed to climb slopes.

Yeah well you know how it goes. Were probably going to read about them superheroes soon. Its like the guys that say they wont wear their seatbelt because they heard a story where the seatbelt would have killed........

Sad thing is these guys probably went to tumber because they thought it would be safer. Somebody said ealier this area is a beginner, elementary or novice area. These guys prob went in and let thier guard down......

We've set off avs in the Calazon before, too. 17 km left, then right about 8k, turn right over the bridge and climb in the cutblock there and it slid last year. Also 17 k, left, right at 2, and way back that way can slide as well!! Be careful everywhere you go!!!!!

funny thing is i was in the truck with one of these guys and his kid , and guess wat, they wernt wearing thier seat belt, and the kid just lost his drivers due to to many speeding tickitts. go figure, dont be supprised if they to become a stat one day, im not gonna ride with those morons any more. the crazy part was hearing all the excuses u they dont have gear.my boy was cought in a slide last year and good thing he was wearing a bag. that slide happened in the trees where ive never seen a slide before. im still tramatized over that, than losins 2 friends in the ferni slide, im a flatlander for the rest of this year. that sucks but thats life

Trail Rider for now

My condolences to the family. You are right Jeff. I think I will stick to the pipeline train out at Bullmoose. Even the slopes up Windfall Creek and everywhere but the main trail in the Wolverine are scary.

the slide was in the area above between the back medows and the terminator.there are some small bowls in that area that r east facing. not as printed saying the back medows, or terminator. i just talked to a search and rescue person that was on that call. to the left of eni meni and moe hills
