TRS clutching NA

When do you try a 30 finish again? Like a 40/30, trying to get to the 100-150 spring...

On my turbo I run a 42/32 with the 100-200. The next test for me would a 42/30 I think. But I've lost track of how many rides it's been since I've blown a belt.

Tory,
I’ve tried a 30 in the past. It just seemed to leave a lot on the table, but........tracks, driver configuration, rolling resistance has all changed to name a few. It may be well worth a try with the evolution of the AXYS.

Yeah we're not driving around the snow plows of yesteryear anymore. I think it's worth a shot!

Also let’s it shift and eliminated the flat, hit a wall feeling.

It aint no joke. Can't believe how much harder the sled runs through its full shift vs before. Rips hard in the deep and just keeps on truck straight to full shift on the trail. Kinda scary actually. Sled is a little too fast now going in and out of the hills! lol

Sounds like testing is going well! Does Rogers have all that in stock by chance? What are your thoughts on how clutching the 2.6 belt drive sleds compares to the chaincase 3" sleds? How about thoughts for slp piped sleds maybe just a touch more weight or an entire different setup?

I just ordered parts for a full TRS clutch setup. Rodgers only had the speedwerx weights when I called earlier in the week. had to call Venom for custom cut helix and ordered the secondary spring from them also. Got the primary spring from Michelle at Cannon powersports. I have a 2.6 belt drive sled with slp pipe, and TRS still recommended the same setup he listed. I hope to have to add a little weight but even if it pulls 8400 as is I will be super happy!

Here is where I'm at on the AXYS today. We have 3 of them. Two have almost 400 miles on each of these setups.
We put these miles on since Thursday in waist to chest deep snow riding the Beartooths. Running through a tank of fuel in a couple of hours. To the pin riding, permagrin. No blown or frayed belts. Clutches warm to hot, absolutely.
Have two setups that are working very well. One with Lightning weights and one with Speedwerx L weights that have a heel cut for Rogers Sport Center(available there)

8-10,000'
42-32F helix
125-175 Red/Gray Venom spring
Speedwerx L custom heel cut weight(empty) 61g
110-290 Polaris primary spring

46-32F helix
125-175 Red/Gray Venom spring
Lightning weights 61g
120-320 Stock spring

Edit: they are 2018 3" chaincase models
The lightning kit has an x3 track geared at 20-43. There will be an x3 on mine shortly.

What belt are you running with these setups? Thanks for all your hard work and sharing it with us, going to give it a shot!

Thanks, running the 115 pro belt on mine, dimensional specs are all the same but the 115 is supposed to be softer compound. I always send my primary to indy speciality to get the balancing, face cut and spider shim.

If I remember correctly the cord height is different on the ....115 compared to the ....83. That makes the ..115 cord vulnerable to pulling on the new sheave angle.

Going to have to look into that, thanks.

I hear ya on this however, we ran the 1115 belt with the Carls/Indy Dan cut which is supposed to be the new angle of the Axys clutch for 4 years before the 1183 made it to market.

I hear ya, I did also. Since those days a lot of changes have happened from the secondary back.?

Tony- have you tried 45c 4553 belt with this instead of the 083?
I know this is for N/A....... but womder if the extra grip was someting to consider.
I bet our buddy has seen that a new helix cut is in order now... opps :face-icon-small-dis

All I can say is the 40-32F in the Speedwerx set up is amazing. It smokes the mule.

Edit: it loads the motor and pulls hard enough that we needed to run it in eth mode. Eth mode picked up 100rpm.

But 40-32F is for higher altitude right? My sealevel riding might not warrant such a low starting angle as 40??

And Speedwerx weights, wich ones?

Edit: Oh! And on the belts, did we not agree that Gates extreme had a bit more grip than Polaris OEM? I've only ran oem belt on my Axys, but on my Pro the Gates was super.

Norway, You thanked him for this post, must have missed the bolded sentence?

No, and kind of..

I looked at Speedwerx site and could not make that "L" point to a specific weight. So I asked.

But kind of, since the bolded sentence says "heel cut for RSC(available there)" and probably means that I will have to go through RSC to get this specific weight. Tony?

Had a good 5-6 hours ride yesterday and was to busy riding in the trees to stare at rpm or speed or anything.
BUT! I have power on demand, climb anything not steep enough to flip me over and I NEVER ONCE during the whole day bothered to check belt or even THINK about clutch temps.

So this is fun and I have ordered the 125/175 secondary spring and hope to drop weight with it and find that sweet spot where small changes show. Another set of weights and one more helix is in the budget this year! :face-icon-small-coo

Cheers,
