troubleshooting aem digital air fuel gauge

wondering if anyone has had this issue. I had my a/f gauge dialed perfect to my box and was runnin great for 600 miles or so then my sled got away from me and hit a tree right in the nose. ever since my gauge has been bouncing around like crazy, never consistent. I thought i may have shook somethin in the sensor so i replaced it and that was not the issue. Anyone have any ideas on what may have happened there? thanks!

What product tester said you probably have a air leak somewhere but here is How to test your A/F gauge: Get the 02 sensor warm then take a rag and dip it in some gas and put the rag over the 02 sensor it should go rich, then blow on it and it will go lean.

ok ive checked for leaks and everything looks good. replaced the sensor with a brand new one and that didnt do it. This might sound stupid but i noticed that it was steady on 14.2 while the attitude box is scrolling. whens its done scrolling it starts to get jumpy. I guess ill tear it all down tomorrow and keep lookin. Have you guys ever seen the guage go bad instead of the sensor?

Did your ECM get banged up at all? Maybe have a look at it and make sure all the components look good.

ok, got the sled off the ground today to run it. green blue mode it sits on 12.6, perfect, doesnt move a point. So it looks like i just have it narrowed down to the gauge jumpin real bad at idle. ecu took a little hit, broke one of the hold down tabs off, smashed the f out of the charge tube. I fabbed a new charge tube and a stainless cover for the ecu and mounted it in a better location. Dont understand why it would only do this at idle?

i did the same thing a few weeks ago, trying to unplug the ECU and reconnect like when it was -10 outside, tab broke, zip tied back together, it holds but looks like crap.....dont want to replace any wiring at this point, let me know if you figure something out that looks good and/or looks like stock

Broken tab

I did the same thing, went down to hardware store and got some 2 part epoxy. Devcon plastic welder, worked great. made kind of a bandaid over broken area.

So you say you broke off one of the ECM hold down tabs... So your talkin the tabs one on each side that bolt the ECM down??

If so I had the same problem... There is an electrical component mounted right close to the edge that is the rectifier for your fuel pump coil... It is mounted on a bit of an angle towards the edge of the ECM case... if you broke the mount off that side chances are you damaged the connection to the board and might be making an intermitent connection causing irregular volatges to your fuel pump... That's what happened to me anyway... I was able to repair mine... Was a little suspect and I found a good deal on a new ECM on ebay so went with a new one but you or someone who is good at soldering could make it work... If this is your problem and you are going to solder pm me first... I learned a couple lessons allong the way...:face-icon-small-con Good luck!!
