trenching? What is trenching?

Trenching is the first couple rides on a sled with an Attack 20 track spun around backwards and messed up skid geometry! Still waiting for it to straighten out like everyone said it would!

Trenching, at least what I call trenching, is when your sled does not get up on top of the powder but trenches instead. This could be due to improper ski pressure or skid angle. On my old 97 Mountain Max, it is mostly from a sharp approach angle on the front points of the skid. That baby trenches! I ride a wheelie through the powder, working all the horses to death under the hood - while people around, me that have spent immensely more money than me, all elevate to the top of the powder as they ride. All machines trench but I think the floatation, or getting up on top of the snow, is what people mean when they say they have a "trencher."
