Trash Day / BBQ at St. Helens

What time and starting where? Sounds like a good idea!!!

I would think sometime mid morning...have to nail it down as the date gets closer. As for where, I'm thinking meet at the Marble snow park. Some can head out toward Lahar and others get dropped off every mile down the main road. That way it's a down hill walk to the next "checkpoint" and when you're finished, the taxi will pick you and your trash up.

Doubt there will be much left by this weekend with the impending 90+ temps but we could give it a shot. On the bright side, at least there won't be many people to reschedule with:rolleyes: I'll see what it looks like in a couple days

I am definitely curious if the west side is worth 1 more run. Let us know if you find out anything. I won't be able to get down to the clean up BBQ but if I come down this weekend I sure can do come clean up while I'm down there...

So how did it go down there?

Well since you asked...there were only three of us (Tsnow, Eric, and myself) that found our way up there:rolleyes: We cleaned up the Cougar and Marble snow parks first and then hiked all the way out to Lahar picking up the trash along the way. Man, those hikers and cross country skiers sure drink alot of beer;)

Then we turned around and made the hike back picking up 17 not so lite bags of trash along the 6 miles in 90+ temps. Unfortunately, seems like the further from the lot we got, the higher the concentration of refuse:(

All in all, it was a good day though we were pretty worn out...and quite sunburnt. Talked to a few groups along the way and made sure they knew we were snowmobilers. Steaks and beer afterward were pretty good too:beer;:D

If anyone else is interested, were going to make another trip up soon to clean up the remaining areas (we had big plans for last Saturday but...). These will be much easier because they are accessible by vehicle so no packin' trash out. More BBQ and brews after:beer;

Sorry I could not make it up to help. Summer = Work. Might make it up for the next one. We pickedup a lot on the 3rd of July, on our last sled trip. The amount of trash out there is not good. I know some is accidental, but please people, PACK IT OUT.

Gotta work in the summer so you can play in the winter. I'll let you know when we plan to head back up:beer;

Yeah, let me and MAcAttack know if you hav another one. MY july is fully booked but for the moment my august is looking OK. Maybe I could bag the cater the old fashion way while I'm down there... :)

Are planning another garbage trip, just trying to match up schedules is the thing.. We got alot, but Eric went up there riding yesterday and there's just as much crap thrown out as there was before... AND it's sure not sledders doing it this time of year!!! We'll keep you all posted, and THANK YOU!!!:beer;
