TRADE IN PRICES?

In defense of the dealers... Polaris Industries really "puts the screws" to the dealers and forces them to take inventory beyond what they are often confortable with .

There are a lot of PRO RMKS out there... and there will be lot of them on the market... pushing the value down... The dealer still has to put effort into re-selling your unit... AND... they dont have a big profit margin on them compared to the expenses they have in prep, storage, admin and overhead. Even at full retail... they dont make that much... only the high-volume dealers can really turn a good profit.

Sleds have to be one of the highest depreciation toys out there. The constant improvements and platform changes for the manufacturers to outdo the competition leaves 2 and 3 year old sleds in the dust heap of value. I figure it costs about $2000 a year to ride the latest iron in depreciation alone if you sell it yourslef. Going thru a dealer with trade in is way worse of course becasue they have to profit on your old sled. If you must stay on the cutting edge of the latest platform you are going to pay pretty dearly for it. It's just kind of the way it is.

I have done far better financially buying and selling motorcycles.

That's why I will only upgrade after the second year of a new platform. So for me it will be 2016/7. I just can't justify the cost to upgrade every year.

I agree. Our dealer is currently trading us for $2000 per year out the door. For example a 2013 le 800 to a 2014 le 8000 2K. I think it is a pretty good deal, it sure saves the selling your own hassle.
